Aiyah, I encountered the same situation last month. Notice stated from 9.00am - 12.00pm. I bought 3 battery operated pumps.When the day finally come, only shut-down for 20 minutes for maintanance. Sigh All my worries was unnecessary.

Very informative. I place my inlet in a FR with carbon. As to prevent big residue to flow and choke the denitrator and save electricity for using a pump. Had tried placing in a skimmer outlet but flowrate too strong and always kick the inlet away even with a stopper.

What media are you using? If sulphur bread then I would suggest that do some washing. My preference would be re-wash the media and start the cycle again. But the cycle might take quite long. From my past experience, I had tried transferring from my old tank denitrator to the new tank.I find it difficult to kick off and still need some time to fine tune the drip before the denitrator is stable. By the time I finished with it, I think most of the cultivated bacteria is gone. The challenge for the fine tune it to let constant water flow into the denitrator. My advice is either you place the inlet in your main tank(gravity feed) or get a feeder pump with small flowrate 300 l. (If you need one, you can get it from me). Hope that will help.
