  1. Thanks for so many feedback.... wow... I have 3 line of defence for filter wool defence 1st layer: before the water overflow into my bioballs, I do have filter wools to trap debris. 2nd layer: when the main tank water discharged into my sump, there is a layer of filter wool. 3rd layer: before the water exit into the last chamber (for pumping back to main tank and PS), there is another layer of filter wool with activated carbon. I am interested to know how well denitrator works since my is a 180 gallon tank.
  2. I have to correct that under no oxgen level, hydrogen sulfide HSO3 will be produce and that is detrimental and toxic for all marine life. To convert to the free nitrogen that we want, we need very low level of oxygen, not zero oxygen.
  3. Why remove the coral chips? I understand that coral chips and my bio-balls at the over-flow chamber will produce a lot of nitrate. However, if I remove them, then I will be struck with ammonia and nitrite which is worse, right? Thanks.
  4. I feed them once a day. A cube of either brine shrimp or mysis shrimp + a bit sea weed + a bit of pellets. All dip in garlic. I have about 45kg of live rock.
  5. No denitrator. Sump: 1 compartment: filter wool follow by coral chips 2 compartment: coral chips 3 compartment: filter wools and activated carbon 4 compartment (biggest compartment): 2 eheim powerhead (back into main tank), 1 dynamax ph + WEipo SA2014 protein skimmer.
  6. Hi, people. My tank kept showing high nitrate and getting a bit sick to keep changing water. Quite expensive too. Other than change water and using refrugium, is there other methods? My tank is 3 months old hence I don't think my 4" DSB is mature at this moment. Will denitrator help? If yes, which is the best? Tank parameters: 5' x 2' x 2.5', overflow system to sump below but did not design for refrugium. Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate >40mg/L pH 8.4 Temperature 28 1 vagabond butterfly fish 2 clown fish 1 Banggai Cardinalfish 1 Tassle Filefish 2 dancing shrimps 1 Yellow Tang 1 Sleeper Goby (Golden head) 1 Blue/Regal Tang 1 Blue Damsel
  7. Most metal stand out there, are having a coating, not stainless steel. Real stainless steel will be pretty heavy. By the way, even the highest grade of stainless steel will still become rusty eventually but it take quite a number of years.
  8. Wood frame... Or if you can plastic frame loh...
  9. Wait for few more days and see how. Dim the light.
  10. eprouve is correct. Most HDB flat within this 15 years have PVC sewage pipes, not cast iron. As for corrosion, ur blowing fans and metal parts for your tank will be corroded. As for overloading, it depend on where u placed your tank. For example, never place on a cantilever balcony

  12. I am using 2014 and I adjust the water level to be slightly below the black O-ring.
  13. Where is it from? germany? Does it have the same function as pinpoint, ie. continuous and accurate reading of pH? Thanks.
  14. Hi, AT. Can I used garlic that we eat for the soak? If yes, how to go about doing it? Can we just cut the raw garlic into small piece and then soak it with the nori? Thanks.
  15. Well, my current is strong though will it be too strong for the coral? I know about the butterfly fish hence I am not going to have a lot of corals, only coral that will not be attack by the butterfly like leather, elephant ears... anything else u can think of that is compatible and easy to keep.
  16. It seems like rotten mucus. I have thrown it away already but just wold like to know why.
  17. Actually the polyps surfaces after 1 hours when I placed it in my tank. It seems to be going quite well and then after 3 days. The whole coral seems to shrink (start to have lots of wrinkles) and there are cloudy stuff emitted from it. Is it dying? I do not have a digital camera hence cannot take a shot and give it to u guys. Is it possible that the vagabond butterfly fish attach it?
  18. My leather coral basically shrink and seems dead after 3 days since I purchased it. I have heard that it should be easy to keep. Anyone, any ideas due to wat reasons? My fishes, feather, macroalgae are all alright. And my water parameters are within acceptable limits though my nitrate is about 40mg/L.
  19. Well, for rear-projection TV, Toshiba is the leading brand. for plasma TV, Hitachi is the leading brand. Anyway, I think i have decided to go for the Toshiba, because of price and good feedback. Seems that no one really use a Hitachi rear projection TV. I have thought of the 100" projector which my friend offer to sell me (2nd hand) but think that it is too much to watch news, etc. Of course, movie will be great lah. Thanks all for your generous comments.
  20. My Weipo 2014 start skimming after a day... Black kopi filth But the control knob is only half open, indicating under powered pump (I am using 2500L/h Dynamax)
