If u want, I can introduce u my tank maker. I got my tank and sump for less than $1000. I think they also do repair.
-
Fishes don't eat this turtle grass due to it slight toxic nature. A good plant to have around if you have tangs. I find it quite nice thought it is kind of expensive. Anyone know the cheapest place to get it?
-
I agree with neokn. Buy a tester, a good investment as well. Cost around $15, I think. What kind of pumps are u using? China-made equipment has the tendency to leak electricity. I had used a cheap pump to mix my salt water. ONce I felt slight tingling feeling on my arms when I put my hand into the water. Later then I realise that it is due to electrical leaks! I have since throw away the pump liao. Good luck, friend.
-
For comparison, My 5' (& 2.5' height) tank is using 12mm thick glass with bracing both at the bottom and top. A friend of mine who is also having a 5' (7 2' height) tank is using 15mm glass without any bracing. What is the reason behind your leakage? If it is simply because of the poor silicon then it does not means that 10mm glass is not sufficient. Your 10mm thick glass may be sufficient. wat is the height of your tank? But if you have the money, a new tank will offer you more peace of mind, if not, just stick with the old tank but with good repair using aquarium silicon. My tank also just leaked last month and I can understand the probia involved. My tank leaked due to the silicon which is repaired by the manufacturer. Good luck.

It may be due to electrical leakage. Better buy a electric tester before putting your hand into the water!

I have 3 tangs (YT, BT and Naso ######) and they are living happily together.

How about BTA and leather? Is 1.018 fine for them?
-
You pump up it using salt mix as well?
-
Guys, anyone else has experience on the salinity? "the salinity is only 1.018 @ 27.2 degree celsius. Is it normal? is it alright?"
-
I have got mine at Seali*e @ Balestier. Quite x at about 7 per packet, I think. U may want to try out at Sim Lim Tower, I heard that the basement shop have it, but no idea on price. If u do buy it there, inform me the price. Thanks.

But I do have a dilemma like my thread on "Main tank leaking". Now all my LS is in a temporary 3' tank in my kitchen. I have setup a PS, canister (chemical filtration), a powerhead for circulation and 2 sets of normal florescent lights. However, it will not last long since it is pretty small as compare to my 800L main tank. Thus, it is difficult for me to decide whether to take a risk to place my LS back into my main tank. (hopefully not leaking anymore). Anyway, the manufacturer is mostly likely trying to push away responsibility if any of my LS died by saying that the seawater will stable within 3 days!!!
-
The tank manufacturer claimed that the seawater will have the bacteria needed so that the ammonia will not spiked up. I am skeptical about their claim but have to ask u guys who has experiences on using seawater.
-
Hi, guys. After my tank is repaired (leakage), the manufacturer offer to ask a contractor to top up my tank with sea water instead of mixing water. Accordingly this will minimise the "new tank Syndrome" so that my LS will survive. However, after tested the seawater, I noticed that the salinity is only 1.018 @ 27.2 degree celsius. Is it normal? is it alright? The pH is pretty good at 8.4 @ 27.2 degree celsius. First time using seawater hence a bit unsure...

Well, I am glad that they are pretty responsible. They have also react quite fast. That is why, I have not made a big hoo-ha over it. I can be pretty nasty at time. However, I am the one who pay the most since I have to spent so much time to remove and replacing everything and risk my LS of dying. Also, I have to pay for the new sea-water since it will help in lowering the risk of my LS dying when I placed them back into the tank. The cost is about $150. Furthermore, during the leakage night, I automatically wake up every 2 hours since I was so stressed out worrying the the tank might just leak a lot or "burst" - flooding my house! Till now, they have not give me a valid reason. I cannot take another "blow" if then tank should leaks again. If that happens, I will bring it to CASE or whatever authorities necessary.

They said that the silicon is from Germany. They have already feedback to Germany supplier on the effect of medication on the silicon.
-
btw, the "expert" who redo the silicon has mentioned that the ich medication that is use will harden the silicon thus causing the leakage! He can see that I have used the medication before due to the slight blue coloration on the 4 sides of my tank (Not all the bottom). However, he admit that the silicon at the bottom is still flexible and normal when he removed it. I have only used once the ich medication which is bought from ML. Anyway, I would not be using it anymore as I find it more damaging than effective. So seems that there are 2 reasons given by the manufacturer manager and "expert. 1) A certain type of marine worm that "drill" though the silicon 2) medication will cause the silicon to harden Bros, wat is your opinion on this?
-
They removed all bottom silicon (the external portion) and redo all of it. Now my house stink of ammonia
-
By the way, the manager of the tank manufacturer said that the cause is most likely due to a type of marine worm that will "drill" into the silicon causing it to leaks. Anyone heard of this? He also mentioned that we can see the hole when I removed everything from the tank. But nothing can be seen leh?

To: Clownfish The piping systems are doing ok. To: neokn Really appreciate your geninue offer to help. I have taken a day off from yesterday afternoon till today afternoon. Met up with the manufacturer yesterday afternoon and they confirmed that the leakage is at the bottom. hence they provide me with a 3' x 2' x 1.5' old tank to transfer all my stuffs and live stocks. They also provide me with boxes to contain my 4" DSB. Also, i have to clean the whole tank so that the worker can work on. I spent a non-stop 8 hours to do the above! Only get to eat my dinner at 11pm. Today morning, the guys come over to redo the silicon sealant. However, I see that they only redo the top layer of the bottom glass. Worry that it may not hold. Will wait till Monday before placing into the water for testing.

Actually all sides are wet! Though I noticed that one end of the tank seems to be more wet. But this does not really proof much since it may just be the lowest point. Anyone can share similar tragic experience? This is a picture taken a year ago when the tank had not arrive yet.

Last week Thursday, my sump area started to have some water ponding. I cleaned it up and suspected that my sump is leaking. Then last week Saturday, there is a bigger pool of water ponding at my sump area. I cleaned it up again trying to find the leak. However, on next few days, there is no water. TILL YESTERDAY NIGHT! The water ponding get so serious that it flow out of my cabinet! After another cleaning up, my wife noticed that the water actually flow down from the main tank! My main tank is seated in a recess of 4" cabinet hence I cannot see the interface between the styrofoam and the tank bottom. But using some paper, I manage to discovered that the recess is wet. My main tank is 5' x 2' x 2.5' with 12mm thick glass. Now I cannot find where is the leak at the bottom of the tank! If have to remove the whole tank, then will be big project! Anyway to savage this situation?

Thanks guys. Yesterday night some of its polys started to appear. Hope that it will be ok.
-
Need to know wat happen to my leather which has been opening nicely for at least past 3 months. However, all of the sudden, it just retract all its polys and there is a layer of shining skin covering it. Any idea what happen to it? Water parameters are constant and only addition to the tank are a mandarin fish and a naso ######. This is a picture 1 weeks ago.

Usually, I am a bit hesitate to get it from Reb&^n.
