  1. Why so angry??? My tank is 5' x 2' x 2.5', is there a problem? I chose yellow, blue and naso because literatures stated that they r peaceful and relatively easy to keep.
  2. How it works? Do I need to buy 2 bottles to calibrate? Any different? Anyway, i have bought the Milwa$%&* yesterday.
  3. I have just given my boxer shrimp away as it is too aggressive. It tried to attack my cleaner shrimp which is of much bigger size than it is, when it get too near. But no harm is done. However, it attack and kill my coco worms! Expensive meals! It also eat up my tube worms too! I don't think size of aquarium matters as my tank is also 900L. But boxing shrimp does not seems to be reef-safe... Just my opinions.
  4. Wow... Sea life is selling the calibration fluid so X or it is market rate? $6 per packet = 2 packets (one for 4.01 and one for 7.01) cost me $12... Btw, AT, do we have to calibrate the meter everytime we change battery?
  5. Oh. The picture is taken few months ago. My tank is about 7 months old already. The picture is to show my live rock configuration. I might add some more live rock to the left of the tank since I noticed that my Tangs like to sleep in more confined places, i.e. if the cave is too big, it do not like it. Before I gotten the Sohal last week, I had yellow and blue for about 4 months already. They are doing fine. No more sohal for me at this moment... Anyway, I just bought a naso tang yesterday from sea life when I go there to see see look look. Seems that my yellow tang is slightly agressive to it.
  6. i c Since it is a straight line graph, then extrapolate is fine then. Especially the reason on the CO2 absorption, it make sense now. Thanks
  7. That is one beautiful sohal tang! I got mine from the shop that have a big dog at Sungei Tengah. I do not know whether they do quarantine the fishes or not.
  8. Wah! How expensive u r refering to? Pin Point already cost nearly S$300 liao. Funny, since it is in log form, then all the more the calibration should be between 7.01 and 9.01, isn't it? I means the case is that we are restricted to 2 point calibration. Pretty interesting, right?
  9. Do u think it is necessary to have fresh water dip before introducing into the main tank?
  10. I got my sohal tang. 2nd day, it started to have white spots! Third day, it is full of white spots! Wanted to get it out for treatment but it is too elusive. The 4th morning died! Possible reasons: 1. It has parasites when I first bought it 2. It is stresses out during the transfer to my tank 3. I do not have a lots of live rock (see attached picture) It is a very difficult fish to keep? My blue and yellow tang are living fine for the past 6 months leh? By the way, it does not seems to feed too.
  11. Thanks a lot. That is very detail, I think I will have no problem following. Just curious why we calibrate it between 4.1 and 7.1? Since our readings is typical at about 8.4, why do we want to extrapolate? I means shouldn't it be calibrated between, let's say 7.1 and 10.1?
  12. Can anyone teach me how to calibrate pin-point pH meter? I suppose I need to buy some buffer solutions. From where? And do I need to adjust anything on the meter itself so that it can be calibrated?
  13. Is the banded coral shrimp the culprit? How do it get to the coco worms? Does it attack feather duster worm as well? Anyone?
  14. I used to have them but take them out as they are too destructive. They pruned me turtle grass and macroaglae! Now all botak already. The last straw came when I saw it attacking and eatup my feather duster worm! Now it is living in my filter sump!
  15. Bingo! I have a coral banded shrimp! Is it the culprit? How do it get to the coco worms? Does it attack feather duster worm as well?
  16. No wonder, the black Tang has a terrible itch and the morrish idol is gone...
  17. I got my coco worms and it opened up really beautifully the moment I placed in my tank but the next day morning, I saw the whole worm outside with a segment of its body mutilated. I put it back into its shell and its seems to be surviving. The next morning, the whole worm disappear again and I cannot find its body at all. Is there any natural enemy of the coco worm? Do brittle worms or crab attach them? (I do have a number of big brittleworms in my tank).
  18. Since his tank is still very new, I don't think there will be so much nutrients to have cyanobacteria, right? U means the diatoms will disappear after some time? By the way, I heard from a friend that by using a DSB, after few years, it will normally crash and acts as a nutrient tank hence usually cyanobacteria will apear. Is it true?
  19. I think that is normal. Soon u will have coraline aglae.
  20. Anyone heard of the Zoo-Mix marine salt? Have any one use it before? How is it?
  21. I would say that all butterfly are not reef safe. Butterfly do keep aptasia at bay. My butterflies eat them all in a flash!
