I have a mixed 1000L tank, 20 juvenile fish with mostly SPS. I have been using a nitrate removal filtration medium in the high flow area of my trickle filter system since August together with 1kg of Seachem Matrix cabon to facilitate the control and removal of nitrate in my now 11-mth old tank. At the last test last week, the nitrate level in Aug. measuring >70ml/L has now dropped to <40 mg/L. I had also been changing 20% water every 2 weeks to facilitate the drop. Would appreciate if the gurus with past experience out there can answer my question of when I should change either of the mediums? Thanks

Hi all, I would like to add a colourful butterfly fish to my 11-month 7-ft old tank. I have 3 leather softies, whips, fans, clams together with mostly SPS coral. Can someone please advise which butterfly species is suitable for my mixed tank? ie. I don't want to discover them making a morsel of my coral! I already have a population of 20 small fish in the tank.

Just came back from a round-the-world trip and found/bought a couple of brand-new pairs of CoraLife Aqua Gloves in Canada. These are full-arm length gloves with elastic bands to hold them snuggly on the upper arm. Ideal for handling live rock, coral and anemones, the gloves measure 28 ins in total length and are made of the finest PVC material with fiber reinforced sleeves. One size fits all. I have 4 finger soft coral (about 3-5ins, brown) for exchange with any other inverterbrates. Very healthy and suitable for newbies. I've had them for 8mths in my tank.
