Carbonate hardness (kH) and calcium (CA) are inter-related. Usually when one variable appears depleted, the other can usually be the reverse. In both your cases, it seems the calcium reactor is doing its job as the calcium is stablised above 400. My plan of action in both cases, would be to first supplement v. slowly the kH ONLY. Once this has reached above 8, increase your dose drip of kalkwasser to maintain the level. Make sure you are testing kH b4 & after dosing kH supplements to ascertain levels, than after dosing kalk to determine level which wld determine future kalk supplement. Hope this helps.

I think Blueheaven is right. BioPhos is a phosphate remover. Activated carbon should be used to remove dissolved organics which usually causes the yellowing in the water. Put 200gm in a netted bag in the sump for a few days and observe if yellowing disappears.

Solo, BTW, do you have a similar unit? The shop in the UK where I bought it from mentioned that the input water has to be ON 24hrs otherwise the filters will begin to retain bacteria and spoil ... Can you confirm this is the case with all RO units? I only need 100L per fortnight (which I can get within 4days continuous main running at 9-30L/day output), it does seems a waste to keep the water mains on. Care to comment?

I've just purchased a UK-manufactured Purity-On-Tap Ultra 1000 RO/DI unit with purified output of 9-50L/day per 24 hour period at average mains pressures.
