If I tune my reactor this way, my reactor already melt down liao What reactor u using, doesn;t sound efficient The basis is always to run the reactor with 30~60 bubble count of CO2 and effluent drip rate of at least 1 drop/sec.-> depends on design, Double Chamber? CO2 recirculation/Reuse Chamber? All small to medium reactors are sized and designed right to work at this standard . The bigger/Biggest reactors model from Korallin, Deltecs, Grotech, PM, Reef Concepts can ramp to effluent rate of 4 drops or 10L/hr = approx. 10 drops/sec easily. Max

Hi Chipson1, I believe MM is base on Refugium theory. A lot of reefers have problems with maintaining a refugium w/o crashing. Maybe MM can help in fueling algae growth as a insump refugium. Beside, there is no MM system out there that can produce coloration of SPS like those Fiji specimens. The basic is that algae need DOCs and SPS from Fiji do not need DOCs, but feeding............So theory is that it will need artifical export system in a close system. If MM Refugiumcan reduce DOcs to zero, how can the refugium not crash by itself? Well a strict maintanence reeef keeping schedule is still a must. I believe some Mud from mud flats of Australia, PNG or even Malaysia will do juz the job as well -> it might cost even more $$$$ exporting these mud over as an aquarium trade. I juz find that it is unethnical to juz to name some QUARTZ AS MIRACLE MUD? It might work as a MUD alternative, but it is no Miracle nor Mud, that's the fact, less 1+1 = 11 is right Max

Chk it out if you have not use it And if you have used it.......Good LUCK...you need lots of Luck. Max

Yes fishless is great..............I still like the idea of going fishless. Well I end up adding fish anyway..............rule of thumb is to add something that you do not need to feed and as my BB Berlin, I suckout everything every week..........so far Nitrate & PO4 has never been detectable using standard test kit -> but if you use Merck test kit, you can still get values like 0.5ppm Nitrate or 0.0125ppm PO4 ................as long as there are algae on our glass, there's DOCs and its nitrate & PO4..............well in this hobby, simple is best Max

Reef2, I understand and supported your apporach of keeping water quality. I make the same decision converting my 4ft to Berlin not even a gain of sand and running German style = Oversize Skimmer+ Ca Reactor + Carbon + RowaPhos only. So far I have add in the following fish 1-by-1 over the last 3 mths 1. Red stripes Black Sailfin Blenny & Lawnmover Blenny -S 2. Acro Goby-S 3. Hawaii Pink Kole Tang -XS 4. Lepoard Wrasse -M 5.Cleaner Shrimp- XL 6. Peppermint Shrimp -M 7. CB -XS I feed my SPS, so that's already a large nutrient load, so no choice and I don't feed the fish at all.........so far so good............with parameters........I guess it matters to what type of fish and invert. you add? If you add 1/2 a dozen of delicate Anthias that need 3~5 feeding per day........ :blink BTW, the right side of the tank is the Blue bulb? Seems blue on the right? BTW, your Acros with 578W on a 3ft will color up even more after your tank mature........great stuff you have Max

In the past you will need to order in thru the states, but there's a official agent that has just been appointed...-> SeaQuest Aquatics Trading Post - Look for Michael Young....... Max

I've started testing ou new food from Liquid Life, both the BioPlankton and CoralPlankton. My main interest will be the "NEW" Coral_Plankton on 6um~200um size, which I can it ideal for SPS, which most species is found to contain food in their gut from 4um to 250um sizes. I will posted a review progressaivly every week. Since I've only tested for 4 days. I will just post the photos prior to review end of this week. My feeding are once/day with CoralPlankton and once a week with BioPlankton. I see more positive polys extensions so far, affect has been good. Max

Give me a break, I know Australia, HK & S'pore Underwater world all uses processed flow-thru system, with large UV installed. UV plant the size of a house! 2-part additive? Ain't it's too expensive even buying in bulk...taking their system size int consideration Max

BTW, there's this famous Hong Kong Reefer that appear in Advance Aquarist a year or 2 ago. He has a 4x2.5x2.5 ft tank and has packed like 2x400W + 2X250W and adding a surge device on top. The tank is built into a cabinet enclosure, juz like Hon's and when you open the hood from a side hood door, you can see a few kg of salt all sticking all over the lights to cabinet.............................This makes you wonder why he need so much POWER 1300W on a 4ft The salt spray is affecting the light transmssion thru the glass hood BTW, he has 1 HELL of a SPS tank. His Straghon is growing near 2 ft height and Table Milli is bigger than your wdding dinner cold plate Max

I modified my 4 Tunze and my tank is like tidal wave rolling on the surface.........BTW my mum not staying with me Max

I'm using the reject water to mop the floor everyday since the day my wife asked me to choosebetween throwing away those rejects + RO/DI unit or mop the floor everyday with the rejects:blink: Max
-
Hi How's the reject rate is it more than 66%? I think there's a problem with Singapore pipeline, water pressure too low. For maximum efficient, you need 80PSI. If you can get 60PSI, it is till not bad, anything less, your reject wil be like 85%~90%. The problem with s'pore piping is that in most cases, pressure is 30PSI, only in landed property, you get 40PSI or so..so............Get yourself a Boster Pump -cost you a bomb about USD$200 and make sure U get a 220~250V model....... I'll tell you that a PH controller is a must, unless you are buying Reactor that is prove by the gurus and it works well. So what's the definition of working good Even I run Deltec Reactor, I run a PH controller. With a PH controller and measuring yr effluent PH & dkh, you will know that you juz invest in another piece of junk Juz a joke , but there are lots of junk out tere for sure....... Max

BTW, get someone, friends or relative to send you one unit from UK.......it is hot in Europe. I talk to Thomas Pohl before, Inventor of Zeovit & Biophos. I believe he recommended using a reactor as well for optimum result................ Good Luck......... Max

Hi Morgan, you was here when I just shift tank..........you saw those Bryopsis patches everywhere............ either Bryopsis LOVE me or I think Morgan has a good suggestion, but I believe 2 approach will make it work; Refug. with Macro Algae lighted 24/7 with MH 150K 5K or couples of T5? Placing Rocks of Macro Algae ontop of spots with Bryopsis or just place Macro Algae nearer or higher towards the light sources. Max

Hello Ian, have not see you around(mths) since the day I met you @ LCK110 in the early morning at 9am waiting for SPS shipment .......... Thought I would share my advise, since I faced the same problem after shifting my tank. There was a significant died-off from my LR that was placed on temporary tubs for 2 weeks before moving to the new tank. My new tank started with a Bryopsis BOOM due to died-of and ianability to cycle the tank probably as I do not have good holding tank bigtime within 2 weeks. Well I can say that you can dump 10kg of Rowaphos there and NO SHIT that the bryopsis will not go away. ADVICE: 1. GET YOURSELF A ROWAPHOS Reactor - increase by 100% in your Rowa Performances -Don't believe me? Get a $150 Merck PO4 test kit and you know why Forget about what the the common test kits tell you..............bryopsis can stay alive at PO4 level much below 0.0125ppm.................... Fill yr RowaPhos Reactor to 2/3 height Add 4 table spoon of RowaPhos every week. 2. Once your Bryopsis stop growing, pull it out with a pincer at least once or twice a week, which is more effective. Get a Planted Tank Pincer 3. Blow at your LR with a power head EVERY GOD DAMN DAY! Nutrient collected among the LRs 4. Change your filter pads/sponge that collect debris & dirt from your overflow. -> these end up as nutrient You should have your bryopsis to the minimum in 2 mths. So what's NEXT Max Continue the Rowaphos routine for another 2~4 mths and you should see all your bryopsis gone forever.................until then Max

Don't waste your money. The most efficient eballast till date is the new Giesemann eballast. Chk out test done recently -> you should be able to find links at RC. Max

I arrive home at around 5pm from Malaysia and found 4 of my Leopard Wrasse dried up on the floor................2 of them was still partially alive.....must have jumped out of the tank......a few hrs ago. All reported to Max
