  1. What's a shrimp refugium? All I know is shrimps pang sai alot!
  2. Yep. It doesn't look slimy. If it is stuck to the rock and cannot be siphoned off, it should be coraline. Coraline algae do come in red, green or white, not just purple.
  3. Using a 2000l/h pump for two reactors running biopallets and rowaphos respectively. Maybe it's getting about 1500l/h flow rate.
  4. Of cos they do work together. I am using them in my setup. Just have to make sure enough flow to make the pallets dance around.
  5. Whoa.. reminded me of the days when we catch longkang fish and put them in our fish tank.
  6. I placed 4 in my tank and they are never spotted after that. But the aptesias are also gone. Maybe they are nocturnal. Anyway, LCK have a regular supply of them and to me theirs is the closes match to real peppermint shrimps.
  7. Seems like the web page moved ... http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/
  8. Mille is a species of acropora . http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/species_metadata/0047/view#
  9. Wow I think it's Damn Nice sps! Like to know too.!
  10. Topup happens every hour for me. Using dosing pump with highly diluted sodium bicarbonate. So it acts as my topup and Kh dosing.
  11. The instructions will ask you to calibrate with distilled water at 20degrees C. Distilled water should be easy to get. But a stable 20 deg room temperature ... not so. Easier to use std salinity solution and cal at room temperature .
  12. Their live rocks are great! Orgy of coraline growth in them !

    New Tank Build

Great effort! I too diy an acrylic sump tank recently. Joints are not display tank standard without a proper table mounted router. I cheated by adding triangular supports all over the inner joints to prevent leaks. I guess sanding is much more difficult to get a good joint.
  14. Those are fake corals n rocks! No way for live rocks n corals! If you can take out the rock, suggest you use hydrogen peroxide 3% to spot treatment of algae. Leave the hydrogen peroxide for a couple of minutes and rinse in old tank water before returning it into tank. Do a search for hydrogen peroxide algae treatment, many discussions about it.
  15. Yes, superglue or cyanoacrylate is safe. So is the two part epoxy.
  16. The rocks looked dry, definitely much easier to work with than wet live rocks or working in the water

    New Tank Build

Particle board is highly vulnerable to moisture. Will disintegrate when the water gets to it. But it's a nice design, I would build a wooden frame to be housed inside that cabinet as the main support.
  18. I'm lazy to manual dose... So biopallet is a nobrainer.
  19. Interesting... There could be a choke somewhere in the pipeline. Mine got no booster pump and gets 25L every 3.5hrs.
  20. How old is the RO membrane? Could be choked due to build up of debris. Turn on the self cleaning valve for a couple of minutes.
  21. We should start a photography thread! Or there is one already....
