I bought 2 slugs last week. 3 days later one of them gone. I suspect it is not because it is not hardy...I think something else might have eaten them...something beneath the rock and sand...or maybe u call this not hardy?

Height Of Mh From Water Surface
panlee replied to reefdude2003's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I think there is no fix rule. You need to adjust the height to see which suits you. You need to lift it high - so that the chance of water splashes the bulb is low as water might crack the bulb (sudden temperature diff) - so that you have space to work in your tank - so that light is spread across the tank You can not lift too high as then the intensity is not there. -
I think 8mm might be ok. It depends hows the build quality. I would recommend build an internal overflow if it does not have one already.

Reverse Osmosis-where To Buy?
panlee replied to reefdude2003's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I am considering buying one from http://www.aquaticreefsystems.com/, for your reference. It says RO only unit is suitable for freshwater but not saltwater aquarium. Thus need to get RO/DI unit. -
I am not sure I want to spend so much for ph monitor now. Could use a cheaper one. And when the time comes to buy calcium reactor then buy a ph monitor that could work with the calcium reactor. Expert pls correct me am I right that for calcium reactor setup and for proper dosing, a ph monitor is used?

Sorry I don't even know what is UVC Call me stupid..

I think the main point is stable temperature. Normal recommended is 26-28. If your tank is always 30 then it 'might' (i am no expert) be ok as the livestock would adjust to them. It is no good to throw iced bottle to cool the temparature, sudden change no good.

Do a search on "reborn". Its been mentioned a number of times how to go there.

What and where is HM? I think 3k is ok for 4feet tank+cabinet+sump+pump+piping+chiller+MH+skimmer if the items are good one. Rough estimate: Tank around $200-$400. Cabinet $250-$500. Sump $60-$120. Ehein pump is around $100-$250. Chiller (Teco, Reef Relief) for your tank should be $1000-$2000. MH around $700-$1500. Skimmer (EuroReef, H&S, Shuran) $400 - $1000.

The size, colour and almost everything is the same. Except for the word "Mysis" and content analysis. I am not sure if the one without "mysis" is actual mysis. But when I ask to buy mysis shrimp in LFS I was given the one without "mysis". When I highlighted to the LFS they then realised there is a difference. So to be sure I now look for the word "mysis".

This shop is generally consider 5* rate for the price and for rich people. You can always find items cheaper elsewhere. As for selection, SL or Reb*n would be better.

Why not use some thing to separate it from the rest for a while and see what happen?

When you put food in your tank, after a while there will be a layer of oil on your tank. Surface skimming is way to remove that layer. If you have an internal overflow in your tank, surface skimming is carry out as water runs down the overflow from water surface. Some hangon protein skimmer does the job of surface skimming as well.
-
This is the package without the word "Mysis". The colour of the packages are the same. The content analysis however are different. So these two are not the same.

When you shop for Frozen Mysis Shrimp, you might want to know there is one similar package without the word "Mysis". This is the package with the word "Mysis".
