  1. Measured with plastic ruler. Realised its not easy to measure unless you use some caliper. Error should be +/-0.5cm Anyway, hope this info helps. Crocea #1 Mantle extended 10cm Retracted 9cm Crocea #2 Mantle extended 7.5cm Retracted 6.5cm Crocea #3 Mantle extended 9cm Retracted 8.5cm PS: When you mention length, I presume you are referring to the axis parallel to the 2 halves of the shell. Otherwise, means I measure wrongly
  2. I'm sure the coralline is sucking up the Mg.
  3. I just buy this clip on light from Ikea with energy saving bulb and clamp it inside my cabinet. Its made of plastic so salt corrosion not an issue.
  4. As dachkie mentioned 4 tubes of T5 is sufficient. You may want to have 3 tubes 10k and 1 tube actinic to enhance viewing pleasure of your corals. But have to warn you that after you start with soft corals, you later will backside itchy and try LPS. Then you will start thinking about upgrading the light and chiller. After that backside itchy again and try SPS... and the upgrading never stop
  5. Do notice that my rocks are turning more purple But Mg gets used up pretty fast. Can drop 200ppm in 5 days
  6. OHF is different from a sump tank. OHF normally not used in marine because the splashing of the water will cause salt creep on the sides of your aquarium. Its more of a practicality reason. A sump usually has a pipe return water to it without any splashing and also your sump contains extra water volume compared to your OHF.
  7. I just put a energy saving bulb over the sump. Its on 12hrs on reverse cycle from my main tank. I don't think cheatos need 24hr light, only caulpera macro-algae.
  8. Mushrooms are very hardy and require low light. I had LR which suddenly growing mushrooms from nowhere Leathers and zoas are also a good choice but they require more light.
  9. I supposed I did. Was new to marine then and everything was advised by the shop... so learn the hard way lor
  10. Taking measurements maybe possible if you ask nicely But taking photos I think most shops wouldn't allow you. I have 3 croceas in my tank. I'll try to get some measurements for you.
  11. I have a small sump + refugium, where I dump some LR and grow cheato. Threw in my cowrie after realising he was eating my prata. Survives well since a lot algae and detritus for him to eat. Saw some small crabs from the LR crawling around too. So I think no problem to do that.
  12. Hi Martin, Perhaps you can make a trip down to Aquamarin. They have a lot of croceas for sale at the moment. You can take measurements to your hearts content. CheerS!
  13. I think your OHF not recommended for marine aquarium and your gravel may not be suitable unless its coral sand.
  14. Do a water change and test again. Last time I did the same thing as you, but did not change water. Later whatever LS that I added in all died even though I tested everything was ok. Sometimes the LR leach other poisonous stuff into the water during curing
  15. Your starfish looks like chocolate chip starfish. Its not reef safe, eats corals.
  16. PL should be enough. But why don't you post a picture of your tank so that we can have a better idea to comment?
  17. If yours is FOWLR, you don't really need T5 also.
  18. Top snail is a cowrie. I had one in my main tank and its high suspected of eating my prata coral . Its a 50/50 thing. Not sure the bottom snail is what species.
  19. Depends on whether your anemone is a real stinger or not. But I observed my tangs brush past the anemone and no effect, but they seem not to like it.
  20. Dropped by AM just now and bought to try. Hope it works as well as what you guys say
  21. Thats a juvenile dragon wrasse if I'm not wrong. Its quite aggressive and not sure if you know what you are getting into... Dragon Wrasse
  22. Lots of super suns at LCK201. Couldn't resist, had to get 1...
  23. Got this monti from a reefer here a few weeks back. It has been doing well and seeing some growth on the edges. But last couple of days noticed these white spots appearing on the surface. Is it bleaching or growth? Affected areas are circled in red. I'm using 2x150W HQI 12K with 2x T5 actinics. MH is on 8hrs a day, actinics are on 3 hrs before and after the MH lights. Tank parameters Sg 1.025 pH 8.2 KH 2.5 meq/L PO4 0.25 ppm (a bit high, trying to reduce) N03 <1 ppm Ca 440 ppm Mg 1380 ppm
  24. Not only the worms but also other organic stuff decomposing. Part of the cycling process. If you cannot tahan the smell, do water change.
