Even the tank is not cycled for a single day.introducing life stock in it also will not die within 2 min... Maybe 2 hrs, 2 days? Definitely not 2 min. I do not have a external thermo stat and my tank temp sometime at 25.8 degree. No casualties . You should might have introduce any form of toxics into it. Restart your tank and do a proper cycled at least 1 month, check your parameter and introduce fish slowly.

Bro, My friend have the same problem . High NO 3. Cannot bring down. He have a sanded in his tank. Not easy looking at how you redo ..he have plenty of rocks scape equivent as you. Think having headache . Does your parameter better after you remove the underneath which traps alots of detritus ? What I observe, his sand bed traps lots of detritus. I just help him to remove the sand bed in his sump and clean up all pumps. Serve better but think problems still there. Any advise?

Try kelantam lane, a frame maker. He makes sump and very responsive to his workman. Overall cheap also.

Alternative, You can buy those cover flip which fit the same size as your point at any DIY shop. That's safer and cheaper. Best if u can fit in those hang on skimmer or tune 9002 will be better. Cheers. Overall very interesting concept.
