  5. any bully to ur purple tank? it could be the causes ..
  6. i have been toping up with distilled water for years. Life or NTUC etc. it is safe. i believe many reefer top up with distilled water. i believe during the top up into ur direct fliter or main tank, destroy ur beneficial bacteria when it come contact to fresh water. a sudden change in ur salinity level all contribute to the crash. worst if you are topping up with tap water with anti chorine, it still contacts lots of impuriries such as PO4 or silicate, chloramine etc. diatom, cyno bloom.
  7. Hi, i would suggest u to turn off ur return pump and slowly remove the coral chips. try not to steer the detritus. In theory, the UG filter circulates water through the gravel, where healthy bacteria grow and break down the fish waste. the gravel begins to pack with so much silt and dirt that circulation stops and the bacteria suffocate. Since the filter still appears to be working, water quality deteriorates, usually unnoticed until it is too late. If the tank is medicated or overfed, an even more rapid die-off of the culture may occur. A speedy water change may avert disaster, but this is the sort of headache and frustration Generally it is a risk to run UG. u can obtain live sand usually FOC from reefer here. or cultivate urself as it will be cheaper compared to getting those packet of live sand sell in the market. You can try to scoope the sand in a small cup and slowly lift down to the bottom of ur tank and pour onto slowly. in this case u will minimise cloudly of your water. Hopes my 2 cents help
  8. nice stocking.=) no skimmer bro?

  12. hitchhiker crabs-- it is a time bomb bro. missing fishes/ shrimps ia a matter of time. i have a good experience on this previously when i got those uncured rock. it was hard to catch, but as time flies, fishes went missing without corpse.. do monitoring closing if u want to keep them. chances are slim in reef safe..
  13. Dear all, thinking of adding a aglae scapper .. any commands or idea of how to do it ?
  14. another shop at kelatan area opp the free market might be cheaper. covering the whole of tank top means higher temperature and fast evaporation rate for ur tank. feeding and toping up of water is problematic in future. consider a air allowance will serve a better air exchange. IMHO. Thanks
  15. to quote you, one of my friend is using 1.5 Ft T5, 2*16w . he is keeping zoa, so far ok but growth of others LPS is weak. NS80 ,25 gallons. depend on stocking too. i believe it should be fine, zoa thrieve in high nutrient enviroment if im not wrong.
  16. Bro james. here is your request. Hopes it help.
  17. Hi ..im no Senior dolphin mini- if im not wrong, it is not a compressor chiller.using heat sink, fan kind of stuff. -getting a Ice Probe might help. smallest horse power is enough for a nano tank. a good choice will be artica which is quiet and reliable. spending on dolphin, i suggest getting a second hand chiller from reefer which might costs a little more than dolphin. do be patient to go a long way for ammonia reading is 0.5, nitrate 0.5, nitrite 5). it does not reach a fully cycle period. IMHO, i suggest T5 is good enough for shrooms, leather corals etc do do a reseach on Cure rock and uncured rock from this forum.A LR which u mention appear white does not means it is dead. lots of factor contribute on the growth of aglae on the LR. you might be comparing why some LR entrusted with COraline while yours is not. temp, calcium , lighting etc all contribute to the growth of coraline. most important, get a skimmer to fit into your tank. there is lots of hang on type of skimmer ava. hopes my two cents help.. welcome to reefing bro!
