Sounds like hydroids. It is generally harmless except to baby fish larvae. It can be quite ugly when a tank is infested with it (they do multiply). Some people say after some time they will disappear. I cleared mine with several peppermint shrimps.

I'm looking for the cheapest star as clean-up crew in my baby fish grow-out tank which is bare-bottom. Do you think sand-shifter star will do well even when deprived of sand bed? Thanks.

I'm currently experimenting with this product to supplement my live rotifer - because unable to increase the volume of my live rotifers. Its size seem quite big compared to Reef Nutrition's Roti-feast. So I plan to use Roti-feast for the first few days, then use frozen rotifers when the clown fry grows bigger. The other problem is that it is difficult to come by. Does Reborn have the stock now?

Rcheng, where to find DI resin? Just realised that DI resin is a mix of Cation and Anion resin http://www.airwaterice.com/category/z.2/. The media I was using (shown in my earlier post in this thread) is only the cation resin. If can't find any local supplier I may have to order from this company in USA. The previous refillable cartridge I bought was made my Air, Water & Ice, Inc.

Phyto can't be trapped in the sump. it will flow into your main tank, and I don't think you'll want green water in your main tank. Can share how to grow phyto? I understand it is difficult, that's why I've got to use Instant Algae (dead phyto) to feed my rotifer.

I ever bought a canister refill from Jireh that can be opened. But they stopped selling it already. I've used refill media from LFS like C328 but can't tell how's the result because did not have an TDS meter at that time. Curious to know what media you'll be using and where to get it from.

I've got FW hairy algae growing in my koi pond. Can I feed them to my FOLWR, tangs, angels and pygmy angels?

There is such a thing as a fish trap, available in some FW LFS (Tiong Bahru) and very few SW LFS (Pasir Ris across from Ah Beng). They come in single or double chamber. The 2 ends have a sliding trap door, but has to be closed manually when the fish swims in for food. Price is $16 onwards. I managed to catch most of my Damsels, but not all. Not sure if your black and white damsel (3 stripes?) will fall into the trap. I can lend you one if you're near Tiong Bahru/Vivo City.

The cheapest timer I've seen so far is at Best Takashimaya, $8+. Bro Jyoon, is there a timer that can control 2 or more? Thinking of alternating 2 wave-makers. Can share what timers are you using and what price range? Thanks
