  7. Hi, does the red mangrove need soil or sand bed? how thick ? Thanks in advance.
  8. Bro, Red mangroves are unique and one of the hardiest plants that can survive in all types of salinity condition. When in seawater, they survive by excreting salt through their leaves. In home condition, we need to intervene by spraying the leaves with some fresh water every other day. I am using DI water to lightly spray onto the leaves twice a week. In nature, this action is done by mother nature as when it rains, the salt will automatically be washed off the leaves. U will be surprise at the amount of nitrate it can pull out from the water.... Enjoy your mangroves and the natual biotope...

  13. Hey bro, [1] Is the algae growing on certain pcs of LR or all over your tank? I have heard stuff like LR leeching out phosphate compound. Not sure how true this is though. If it is just on a few pcs of LR and if removal of them is feasible, u might just wanna remove them. [2] If over the entire tank, you might wanna to try not switching on the light for a few days. Will not have any harmful effected to the corals while following the advise of adjusting the parameters by fellow reefers in the post above [3] I am using sorb-4 for phosphate removal and i believe it did work as it successfully bring down my phosphate level originally. If all water parameters are good, the LR might be the cause as algae tends to thrive in nutrient rich surface... Just my 2cts....hope it helps and not make u more confuse..
