  10. emerald crab goes for bubble algae. I suggest you get some cleaning crew like Astra snails and some hermit crabs such as scarlet and electric blue hermit crabs.
  11. My advise for nano tanks is to keep it simple and don't overstock and over crowd yr tank. 1. Scape with few 2-3 large pcs of LRs so that fishes have more room to swim 2. Cycle yr tank for 1 mth without adding any livestock. Add bacteria daily for the first 2 weeks and then twice weekly after that or see dosing instructions. When cycling, you don't have to turn on the lights and chiller. While cycling, you can add a few cleaning crew such as Astrea snails, scarlet hermit crabs. 3. Test perimeters before adding LS. Nitrite and Ammonia should be zero 4. Add peaceful fishes like dart fishes, pipe fishes or gobies. 5. Add some softies like zoas, ricodeas, mushys and then easy LPS. Avoid sun corals unless you are going to target feed them. Avoid stuff like coco worm, Cauniflower unless you are feeding them with pytoplankton. Nano tanks has its own beauty as well.

  13. Yes, it did for me. This is my 2nd week now. Can also use zb with coral snow in the am and zz+zb at night. Read abt the effectiveness of that combi as well for more serious cases.

  15. The article was a good read. Tks for posting. Would also want to share my experience in combating hair algae and cyno which wiped up my entire collection of sps. I believe it all started when I was trying out a product. After that, it was hell break loose. I even took out the rocks to scrape off the algae and changed my live sand. It's like a re-start. After the re-start, I cycled for abt 4-5 mths with minimal fishes and lights. Also dose bacteria. When alls clear, I turn my lights on and took bk my remaining corals. Within 3 weeks, the hair algae returned. I had to reduce my photo period and did water chg on a weekly basis. Still, not much improvement. The turning point came when I bought a bunch of astrea snails that bulldoze my hair algae. I added more cleaning crew like hermits. I'm also dozing zeozym and zeobak daily for a week now. I'm really happy to finally be able to see some light in this tunnel. Hopefully, able to enjoy this hobby again when I can start keeping sps again.
  16. I'm using gary's 5 stage DI unit and I must say I love it! I would recommend anyone who is considering to buy a 2 or 3 stage filter to get Gary's one instead. It's more economical in the long run. He has put a lot of effort designing and getting the parts. I've used a 2 stage before. Di media gets depleted really fast. With gary's design, My di media last so much longer and my reading from my TSS meter always read 0.
