  2. Hey hi Seanewbie.... If you wanna take a look, you can come over to my place to check out the MCE 600. I have it on a 1.5ft open cube. Best to see it for yourself. rgds Jacky
  3. suggestion: tailspot blenny - not as aggressive as bicolour blenny and can help to control algae red firefish yashia goby & pistol shrimp pair. common clown
  4. lol...... see what I mean, Tench1......
  5. no worries bro .... not so petty lah..... else would have burned down that Ray fella's house already!!! Saw that you tank is underflow. is there an overflow into your mechanical filtration too? If debris are cycling within your tank beyond half a day, then maybe you can look into improving your mechnical filtration.
  6. Redsea skimmers - would suggest you skip them. MCE600 - seems a little undersized for your tank and the collection cup is pretty small. you might need to empty it every day or alternate day. markietan was using 2 of it for his 5 footer i think. you might want to check with him if he has not gone for his overseas posting yet. The rest I am not too sure. if you are getting an in sump skimmer, I am sure you have a lot more other models to select from. Deltec, Skimz, H&S, Reef Oct, BM...... worth every penny to get a high performance skimmer.
  7. .... ummm thanks for another "nice" name ! yeah sometimes they really release a lot poo..... thats why I prefer to use a stronger flow in the tank and skipped mushrooms.
  8. Warning : Newbies shld not go jireh alone hor. Better to go with some Lao jiao.
  9. understand... rather hard for people with no date..... Chicken and egg issue lah..... Karl, just pen in your name 1st. once I have the date, I will follow up with everyone again to see if they can make it.
  10. Hi fellow reefers For many of us who owns a reef tank, photography tends to be a side hobby gradually. Capturing photos of our livestock can be a challenge for photography noobies like me. Mr XXX has graciously agreed to share with us some of his photography techniques in this informal workshop. His recent tank photos can be found here: http://www.sgreefclu...ic=72947&st=260 The date is still pending confirmation but timeframe is between mid June - mid July. We will be using Larry's tank as the photography object. Hence venue will be at Choa Chu Kang. I am also looking for a backup venue incase of unforseen circumstances. So if you have a 4 feet tank and above and do not mind opening up your place for the workshop, please drop me a PM. We should be expecting about 6 - 8 people. For those of you who are keen, please indicate your interest below. i need to gauge the interest level before moving on to firm the details of this workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring your DSLR, tripods to the workshop. There is no cost involve. Other photography gurus, please feel free to come and share your experience. In the event that we need to limit the number of participants, we will use this list as reference. (FCFS) 1) Jacky 2)

  13. oops slight correction .... Only 1 gentlemen (me). The other is a ... Wahahahaha.... Ding!
  14. Thanks bro! My eyes are getting smaller and smaller quinting at this iPhone mini screen
  15. need to put M(18) on your thread title already......
  16. kekeke..... you forgot to put the ding Bino.... Let me help you .... yeah dun think there will be any detrimental harm but definitely more stressful to the corals. anyway tapwater PH =9.0 , Distill water PH = 7.0, so still better to use tank saltwater. And to note, his zoas did not open after the dip hor...... again.
  17. wahaha.... nvr thought of that.... I think chaeto and sump stuff, you can let them be ba. else you will kill all the good pods too. btw, you take the LS and dip into a separate pail of coralRX dip hor. Not add Coral RX into main tank or sump. I think you know this but just wanted to be sure ..... hehehe.... Also add coralRx into a pail of saltwater, not freshwater like what someone did...... DING!
  18. and no power supply needed! => zero heat
  19. A bit large but really a nice invention.
  20. Rescape!!! Everyone knows thats my favourite reefing activity just saw you have some nice zoas collection. Take good care of them :)and make sure you prepare sufficient saltwater. Always better to overstock them as standby. yes, I would skip anemonies too. I have dipped blastos, mushrooms, supersuns, gonio, starpolyps, before.. these are all ok. when you dip them, try to have a small pump circulating the water inside or use your hand manually to shake them in the dip. The worms, nudis tends to come out easier... a lot of other bugs too.... be prepared for the ugly. I eventually ended by using chopstick to pick the corals up try also to look out for bristle or bobbit worms. these are harder to kill in dip and they might come out and crawl back into the crevices. get ready a pincer / shopstick if you wanna get rid of them. be careful not to break them into two. Same thing after you dip them, take the corals and rinse in fresh saltwater. shake them a bit more vigorously so that any dead organism will fall off. For the coral RX dip, concentration is about 30 drops in 4 litres of saltwater. (best to use your existing tank water too). dip for 10 mins.
  21. Hi bro, I have seen those from my zoas, and other corals before too. I think it is either poo-ing or getting stressed. My take is that : leave it for a while and it clears up, then nothing much to be concerned about. cheers Jacky
