  1. who modded the LED for you? Sherman? I use flash photograhy to save trouble Hope my fishes doesn't get affected with all those flashes.
  2. Paiseh selling those. Each rock will still have 10 polyps or more.
  3. cannot see any diff between the last 2 FTS leh. changed lighting?
  4. my mushrooms, I will further frag some of them, probably break up the rock, just want to have about 5 polyps per species. no need for one whole rock. Want to collect more varieties. Sun enough already.
  5. sounds cool! I am trying to get a mushie corner, a zoas corner and an SPS area. but really damn hard to keep this diverse grp in the same tank. very very slim chance of success.
  6. Looks like I gotta call them every day now. How much is one expected to be?
  7. Yes there are still bubbles leaking but not as much. The troublesome thing is that I need to change the cotton in the skimmer pack every now and then. My bioload is not heavy. I empty whenever I feel that the dirty collection is an eyesore.... so that is like every other day. but my best bet would be that you would prob need to empty it every 3 - 4 days. No it is not silent. beside my light, the skimmer is the next noisiest eqpt. It produces a lot of hissing sound. quite noisy. I am a noise sensitive person though. Question: What lights will you be using?
  8. Peter, I am not sure if Jun meant that he would like to cultivate copepods by having another pico. Jun, there are people who cultivate copepods by keeping chaeto. That could be one way too. between having to run a second tank and buying off shelf, I would choose the latter simply becuase I don't have sufficient space which is why i ended up with a nano anyway
  9. did not know. Maybe should start a nano frag share thread. List out what we can share or want to buy and share. what do you think?
  10. have you though of using artificial rocks? I saw some at jireh today and they really look nice. The one I saw really a cave scape with plenty of platform for corals. if you want real live rocks, then choose those with nice shape and texture. try not to get flat ones. what you would like to have is to have "seamless" integration when you place one on top of the other. So image if you put a flat piece of rock to bridge over 2 porous rock, it would look very artificial. Your tank is rather narrow, so you might want to consider doing just a simple pyramid scape. prob something like what Henry has in his ELOS display tank. Sorry for being long winded. you might have process these thoughts before already I am just throwing thoughts and thinking aloud.
  11. lol you must be kidding me.... made me crack.
  12. Jun, If you do wanna put sand, please just put a very thin layer as in less than 1 inch. Here's my experience, your algae will grow on the tank wall. you will have problem trying to clean the algae near the sandbed because you will be worried about sand trapping in your sponge and hence scratching the glass. Go barebottom will be the best and if not, then just a very thin layer which you can easily move them away from the tank wall when you clean the algae. just shift them back after you had finish cleaning.
  13. The one from JM yes. but I think got discount now.
  14. I bought the salt mixed water from ML. Did not test salinity & other parameters. yesterday, there was a mini commotion at home. (wife was running very high fever) and I ended up changing water only at 1 am.... really could not be bothered with too much at that time.
  15. Sigh... that my PH just hit 8.4 just now. So now it is swinging from 7.95 - 8.4 !!!!!! @$#^#&*(^%$@ yours looks very very glamorous.... if I can use that to describe a coral.
  16. student can be very rich one hor. we had to take shuttle bus to JM today but I think some students drive there. whahahaha.
  17. interesting note about xenia: enia (Xenia elongate and Xenia sp.) Xenia is a very attractive coral that literally can turn from one stalk to five or ten in a matter of a few weeks/a month or two. Some xenia’s polyps can open and close in a pulsing mode and it really gives this coral and your tank a unique look. Placement for this coral is key, since they grow at such a rapid pace you must provide room for them to grow. An xenia will easily over grow other neighboring corals. This is by far the easiest soft coral to frag simply because they grow so rapidly it will not take more than a week or two for the coral to attach to a frag plug or live rock rubble, usually a line of fishing wire wrapped around the frag holding it against whatever you choose to attach it to will be good enough and the coral will attach. One of the only problem with this coral is they are known to have a die out period where one day the colony of xenia is thriving and the next they are shriveled and dead, Some people think this is caused by the tanks water being to hot others think it is because the xenia has used up all they could from the water, But in any case some xenia die for no apparent reason.
  18. actually I dun really need orange. my suns are orangy enough. hmmm gotta look for the other colours.
