  1. I suspect my zoas has contracted Zoapox. I see white speckle of dots on its rubber outer skin. Some of the white dots are about 1 mm diameter. Issit zoa pox? Any idea what is the most effective way of curing it? Need help. Thanks.
  2. I did not know need to calibrate the chiller. How do you do it?
  3. wow.... finally see your tank pic. so many fishes.... nice.....
  4. Ever thought of using acrylic? you can opt for either black acrylic or clear ones.
  5. Hi Luke. Nvr seen those marks before in my tank. Maybe take that snail out or swop it out. Feeding the suns - I fed my suns too huge a chunck of prawn the last time. Their well being deterioriated after that. Have since feed them 1 -2 mysis shrimp per head every week. (you can do twice a week too.) They are doing ok now. Would suggest you feed mysis too and pass the prawn. Less harmful I think especially if the prawn is not finely chopped and is too huge a chunk. Also do a check if they spit out the prawn the next day.
  6. ..... when its yours, it will be yours bro..... maybe something better waiting for you. Cheer up
  7. Bro , if onizuka pass, let me know. I have a friend who wish to kickstart a marine aquarium hobby.
  8. as vague as your info is, try this: isolate each eqpt at a time and see what causes it. ie, switch off skimmer and see if situation improves. If not, then switch off return pump and leave skimmer on... etc. use your creativity.
  9. switch off your skimmer and see if the bubbles go away. BTW during cycling, do not to switch on skimmer, also remove carbon.
  10. nvr used an MCE before but try this. closed the air valve. swtch on the skimmer. slowly adjust (open the air valve) till the bubbling water level in the skimmer is 2 inch below where the skimmate cup is. open in very small steps. open the valve, then come back and check the water level indicator in 20 mins. do that again and again till the level is where you want it to be. Just remember - always in very small steps and do this several times. Once you have the water level set, just leave it. Sometimes you will see skimmage overflowing, sometimes you will not. This is normal.
  11. Ya.... like the luminousity. so kept one seeing that they do not reproduce in numbers so easily.
  12. Wah big project arh..... Hey I need to get something from Daryl. (my carbon, pellets etc) Peter you free on Thurs or Fri.
  13. you suck it using the squirt??? just leave it as it is, in case you hurt the poor fella.
  14. marks? I have seen the snails climb up the walls before but nvr notice any marks.
  15. I killed mojano pest that way. just epoxy them (stuff the hole) and make sure they are all sealed in the epoxy. When the epoxy harden, the pest will die. But yeah, maybe the liquid way is much better. good luck & keep us posted.
  16. I think they do. I have seen white curly substance and black ones spurted out from their mouth before.
  17. I heard its hit or miss with peppermint shrimps. some eat but some don't. same as with copperband butterfly. Then there is some aiptasia killing liquids which can be bought off the shelf. I have nvr tackle them before so I cannot really comment on anything. Just a thought: What if you just take some epoxy and stick over them. That will might kill them right There will be some ugly looking epoxy but I am sure you can use some corals/ frags to cover it up.
  18. quite eerie.... appear out of nowhere but my girl loves them. will be scary if suddenly 20 of them appears. although these are CUCs.... but do note they produce a lot of waste too. I housed a few snails and a Tux urchin in my beta box for a few days.... the amount of waste collected in that box is really a lot...!!!! So do not overstock CUCs too. Might do more harm then good.
  19. If you are using them within 3 days, then its ok. For storage, I was advised by Iwarna to aerate it.
  20. yah some of the yumas do. saw them devouring it. some don't though. maybe not so hungry. Now that I have them off my sandbed, I dun have to worry about the nassarius snails snatching the shrimps from the yumas.
  21. hmmm having them defrost like that in the tank.... definitely will have quite a lot that get floated around. Dun wanna have that happening in my tank. -==> Stubborn me, Paiseh Aslo I need to place 1 - 2 shrimp on yumas. cannot do it without chopsticks/ pincers.
  22. I think we discuss this before somewhere in one of the thread. you might have missed it
  23. then you need to ask yourself if it is worth to pay double the price for those features. you can practically get 2 set of MaxSpect lights for 1 set of LA. changing intensity is fun but once the novelty wears off, hmmmmm how often would you be using that feature? The timer on MaxSpect is sufficient for its purpose. Having more gives you better flexibility of course. My MH is not even on a timer, just switch on and off manually
  24. Kiko, Poomoon Peter is right. I already have the seasquirt. I am not able to tuck mysis onto the tentacles of the blastos and leaving mysis on the the yumas mouth is also a challenge using that. Chopstick actually gives you more control. I need to find a long long pair.... Peter Tay aka AhSiang I have the frozen mysis in cube form. letting them defrost in the tank will foul the water leh. I prefer to use feed sparingly so as not to dirty my water so much. nano lah .... must be careful.
  25. I used to have 3 in my tank. I have removed 2 since. Does not move once it has found it's spot. Yes it stung my zoas and small mushies.
