  1. wow .... I missed such an interesting topic. My thoughts (Lazy to construct them so just penning thoughts in point form) - I think everyone has their points. But ultimately it is impossible for the mods to govern the integrity of the seller. - When you buy high from reefers, you will tend to sell higher as well. - If you feel that the bid is unrealistic or the price is too high, then give that thread a miss. Newbies might fall for it once or twice but they will learn. - Regardless of how high the bid is, someone will always come in and bid higher. There are a lot of rich reefers out there. Know your limits. - Work around the solution. Try to know more reefers as friends and share frags instead of getting into the bidding trap. - Perhaps mod can consider - a restriction on the bidding duration and maybe have a mandatory buy out price. - Personally if I see an item I like, I will bid the max price I am willing to pay for it. It there is a higher bid that comes it, then I will just forget it. - Travelling to Iwarna and the east LFS is extremely difficult for me. So the sales thread and bidding system is still a good alternative for me to get what I want abeit at a much higher price. - Ultimately, the money is in your pocket. Exercise discretion when bidding. In real life, it is the same when you go out to purchase 2nd hand HDB, how much cash over valuation are you willing to pay? 20k, 30k, 40k?
  2. more details will be good. tank size? inhabitats? livestock? eqpt? water params? fish died of? white spots, starvation, etc etc was it feeding? how old is your tank?
  3. there is an expiration date on the packaging usually.
  4. very tempted but my clown still having white spots
  5. +1. Can see the design is very well thought
  6. yah give imcosmokramer a heads-up and he can recommend you which tank thread in NR to check out
  7. Here's the official reply from MaxSpect: the luminous output degradation of the SemiLED white LED is about 3% every 1000 hours, the 30w LEDs is about 5% every 1000 hours. The 3w blue LED’s degradation is a bit less than the 3w white one. =========== Hence if the light is switch on 8 hrs every day, it sums up to 2920 hrs every year. According to their spec, it will degrade about 9% every year for the white LED. That is why they recommend changing the LED every 2 years - there will be a 18% loss by then. This could be due to the quality of the SemiLED and not the thermal management of the unit. I am asking about the CREE degradation. Will post here once I have a response from them.
  8. cannot be bothered to travel all the way there.
  9. Yah I saw that statement too before. Not sure how long they can last. Just like the other LEDs. No one has used CREE for 5 yrs up till now. MaxSpect did respond on this in the china forum but I cannot make out what they are trying to say with my limited chinese skills. But generally I think should be ok since the LEDs are driven around 700mA only.
  10. ya half correct too. - "Anyway, let's continue to share knowledge, good deals and gems. Isn't that what src is all about?" SRC is also for ppl like us to TCSS sometimes I just wish more would share their experience and their tanks. I met someone at GO once and he had a 3 ft cube tank. Must be very nice. Nvr seen a 3 ft cube before.
  11. ya a lot of hidden dragons in SRC. Maybe there is also another Lord Flavia somewhere in this island.
  12. ty ty. will make a trip tml or on Sat.
  13. k easy. pass me the torch. then you can sell the orange mushie to Enriam problem solved.
  14. thanks for the pics. I wanna get the red pistol. Any LFS selling them now?
  15. whats wrong with the recent batch of reefers or whats wrong with the recent batch of gobies.... lol just kidding I personally feel that that they are hard to feed. (not due to food size) hard hor, not impposible. Those at Henry's place prob are already feeding on his gourmet and hence will fair better. Yeah I am waiting for him to bring them in again.
  16. No Gerald. This feature sadly is not available on the MaxSpect. You cannot dim the LEDs and their intensity is not programmable. The only work around is to customize your light with the right number of white and blue LEDs. If you prefer a whiter look, then you can prob replace 2 of the blue LEDs with white ones. they also have green and red LEDs for you to mix n match. but once configured, you can only switch it on and off via its built in timer.
  17. BTW, had a wierd dream last week. Dreamt that I was in SL and saw a tank full of yellow clown gobies. Ask Jasmine about them and she said that they are feeding on pellets already!!! pellet feeding yellow clown gobies.... WOW. then I woke up ........
  18. why brown? there are red, purple, blue ones around right? Those are non-photosyn?
  19. they are very territorial. my hands got bitten by it quite a few times. in a small tank, better to keep just one.
  20. wow then you still have a lot of space for new additions
  21. erh, your tank suddenly look so much emptier. wow your elegance is almost 1 feet? The 2 big bunch of red corals (torch and soft coral) in the mid seem to be blocking some of the corals and scape behind leh.
