trying very hard... this is week 2. target is 2 months.. haha Had a little mishap last week when the anemone was shredded to pieces in the middle of the night... next morning i woke up to a tank of cloudy and stinky water. had to do 30% WC, add another bag of ROX 8. the worst part is that my skimmer has not break in and was not producing sufficient mirco bubbles..... gave me a fright.... The SPS were closed for a day. Thank goodness everything is stable now except for the algae boom..... how is things with you bro? nvr see your tank update? all good with your little reef paradise?

this one is called something optic or optic something????? Extremely difficult to get a good shot on this frag because it is pretty tiny and placed all the way at the back of the tank. Need to get my zoom lens....

According to Wilson... this is also a yellow BN... don't know why the colour has morphed into a darker tone.... you can see the diff between the two... nice combo

bro, do your due dliligience and do some research. deteremine your budget.... $500, $1000? then work out the size of the tank possible. chiller is always recommended to have. For newbies who are not familiar with eqpt, you can have a word with Dr Evil (Delighting) - on his cube 80. I would recommend this over JBJ any time. the tank size is about the same but comes with a sump. the other thing you can do is to check with seasoned nano players like Peacemaker. He should have a few IOS tank design why you can simply pass to tank makers and ask them to build for you. Tank makers are sgbros, n30, atlantic glass, CR Aquarium - just google, call them and get a quote. It is a bit troublesome but the more your research, the better understanding you have and you will also know what are your options. cheers and good luck hunting Jacky

thanks desi.... tank wise - cheap, good and excellent service... i am sure we all agree..... haha...... waiting to see Wilson's feedback after he got his tank.... I think it does help but it is definitely not as strong a reinforcement as top bracing. The bottom bracing pieces are siliconed to the inner side of the base glass (nearer to the center of the tank) and the side glass. So there is additional strength provided to hold the side panels to the base pannel. I was more like since I can add it in, why not as it reinforces the bottom anyway. But I agree, top bracing is much more stronger

Hey bro, Read through your tank thread thoroughly and realized your tank is 4.5 x2.5x1.7, rimless, no bracing (i cannot see any bracing from your photos) and your tank glass thickness is 12mm only? My tank is a rimless 2 feet cube. There are tank makers that I spoke to who REFUSED to build it with 10mm glass. They insist on making it with 12mm ONLY. There must be a reason why they are insistent on using 12mm glass. Now yours is a 4.5 x 2.5 x 1.7 tank. I am no expert but logically speaking, 12mm seems to be under catered. It might be ok for the short term but it could be questionable for the long term. The reccommended safety factor is 4 for marine tanks. you might want to check with your tank maker what is your tank safety factor... if it is below 3 or 2.5, then you might really want to consider enforcing the tank with bracing and get the safety factor up to 3+. would also suggest you give a call to N30, sgbros, CR Aquarium, Marine Life and hear what they say about 12mm thickness for a tank your size. Always better to be safe now than be sorry later. I also noticed that your tank was delivered on 26 sept. then sump was delivered later and then piping works yet to be completed....... been almost 2 weeks.... must be hard to endure..... I only know of 1 tank maker in this forum, that delivers tank like this........ Hope all turns up well for your tank and all the best bro ! Keep us posted.....

yeah bro... though the bottom 15% of the sock still touches the water though.... not even hieght...

the bottom bracing of the tank..... Though my tank is already 12 mm.... but always better to be safe than sorry..... ** just an excuse to cover up for my kiasu-ism.

this is the fresh water reservoir. Not sure if I will have an ATO system but planning to store some freshwater here for easy top up. will just get an ehiem compact to pump water in.
-
The baffle plate after the skimmer just before the water reach the return pump. There will be sponge placed here to help reduce micro bubbles from entering the Display tank.
