  1. Selamat petang, semua abangs! jangan decom lah Barnacle. Press on! Saya bukan melayu. boleh post tempat sini tak?
  2. would suggest not running the skimmer during cycling period. we throw market prawns in the tank to kick off cycling... when you switch on the skimmer, you are removing part of the waste and hence slowing down and reducing the bacterial growth and count.
  3. I would not reccommend the Crystal Pro unit. Expensive and the resin Cartridges depletes quite fast. I think a lot of us experience it already. If you get a brand new one, it is almost $200. the crystal pro cartridge each cost about $40 - $60 and you need to change 2 at a time. These cartridges last about 2 months or so only, depending on amount usage and tap water TDS reading. but on the average, running cost is about $100 every 3 months..... So 1st year = $400 + $200 = $600. (ongoing years = $400 pa) that is a lot for just water ... hehe....... Having said all the above, it is different if you get a Crystal pro and purchase refillable cartridges and get resins from bulk orders, Cost will be only $300 for 1st year and ongoing years = $70 pa. You can save another $100 if you get a 2nd hand unit. So savings is quite substantial over a period of time.
  4. I am referring to Desi relying on reviews for her webcam decision lah....... lol comy, u give me a fright......
  5. One thing I have learnt from my Tunze 9002 research is NOT to trust internet reviews ...... better to check with friends who has been using them.... (well if you can find any....)

  9. LCF, best would be to leave it a day with an airstone aerating it. The ph of tap water is around 9.0 Aerating the water stablises the PH to about 8.2
  10. Yeah, if you want a school of swimming fishes, chromis would be my take too. but sometimes you might get frustrated by their "hooliganism" while trying to admire your reefs. For the tiny fishes, I am not sure if they swim much or do they usually just hover at a spot? The ones that Lemon reccommended, I have seen them before... like marine version of neon tetras. (not as neon of course). quite nice.... but I heard they tend to disappear one by one over time ..... (hearsay from someone hor... you might want to do some research) Their size is similar or just slightly bigger than Henry's eviota. so depends if you like red or the other colour. Henry sells them at about 1.5 red per fish. so if you get 15, it will be quite expensive too.... Maybe give Henry a call and see if he has any recommendations.....
  11. actually your tank quite small. why want a school of fishes?
  12. ya right... maybe candy basslet! or Gem Tang! ... kekkekeke... just kidding...........
  13. K k. will keep you posted whq. I will go ahead with that 16W T5 1st for 2 tubes. I do think that is enough for zoas and blastos.
  14. cannot lah... need to get an arm to hold the bulb... I have kids who might just pull it down.... anyway this is a low budget tank. Not going to go above $150 for entire setup.

  16. T loaned a macro lens from Peter today. Tamron 90mm. damned difficult to take a steady shot without tripod. took a shot anyway and then the battery went flat forgot to charge today. The lens is pretty heavy and the focusing is rather noisy. Think I might still end up with the Canon 100mm macro lens if I ever get one.
  17. your response never ceases to amaze me!!! Kudos!!! Btw I think my wife has a even more acquired taste to have chose me.... Wahaha!!!
  18. voluntarily tithings. Members need to give 10% of monthly income to the church. When in the past, there are these full time church workers who preach God's words and do not earn a living. Each member of that church would then give 10% of their livelihood earnings (most of them are farmers at that time - so we are talking about wheats, drinks, vegetables, meat) to the church. Fast forward to modern days, all of us are not farmers, so members are giving 10% of their month income. Not sure if they are doing it through Giro deduction already.... a bit far fethced... lol
  19. lol... no lah bro... just any one of them...
  20. wil be hard to find a rich oil shiek with such an acquired taste as Ketchup.....
  21. very strong words .... foocha....not very nice... there might be some CH members here that may get offended. My thoughts are: it is not easy running a church with >32,000 members. How much they spend annual and for what purpose, I think only they themselves would know and the auditors now. All other churches, mosques, temples runs the same way... what happens to the $ collected? not sure if there is any transparency there. Congregating in city area/ suburb area.... well usually pastors/ church elders would pray over such decisions and God will give them the indications and directions. From their growth from a small church to 32,000 strong, they definitely moved in the right direction. More people got to hear the word of God and sing His praises. $400 million amassed is not surprising, as they have such a strong number of membership. assuming 32,000 and each member gives an average tithes of $200 per month. That amounts to 6.4 mil a month. 1 year = 76.8 million! These are tithings.. different from donations. I am not sure if religious organizations should be mentioned in the same bracket as charity organizations. What I do agree with you is on the "christina aguilera wannabe" portion. Totally inappropriate for a pastor's wife/ church councillor. PS: I posted this article cause I thought it may be more of an interest as most of us are Singaporeans and this is in our daily life. I have no intention of causing any uneasiness to any Christians/ City Harvest members out there. For those who wish to pen their thoughts, please be sensitive on the wordings used. thanks.
