another peep at the new kid on the block
-
new addition to the crew...... needed something blue and this fella completed the colours of the other members sooooooo well Comycus and I took quite some time to choose this fella..... one of the smaller ones and the colour is so vibrant! he was displaying great character. Comy. Awesome recommendation. Was a little worried he will get bullied by the FA but he was able to hold his ground. in less than an hour, the FA was leaving him alone already ..haha..... The other concern was feeding ... he just landed yesterday so was not sure if he's a healthy specimen but took the risk, bite the bullet and bought him. AhSiang said he took a nip at the henry's food when I flooded the tank... so hopefully he will do well.

thanks to bro mossrope for this

yumas with blue based and yumas with green base..... . Whole rock of 7, 8 polyps less than 3 reds. not the exotic ones that Siang and Peter bought.... but guess I have simple taste
-
finally found a small decent size lumi green torch. less than 3 red.
-
We were there before you bro. We had fun today... wish you were with us. How can I not have photo updates... haha. 1st stop at Irwana: Hairy mushroom.... I do not like mushies in my tank due to strong flow by the MP10 but this gorgeous was too nice to be passed. whole rock of this (approx 8 polyps) was going at less than 2 red !

Think I was a little insensitive when I posted that post..... To a certain extend, I do agree with you and in all fairness, they do have a nice collection of blastos. A good hunting ground for SPS too. But I have touched on quite a sensitive & touchy topic, so better let me head back to my tank topic

Its placed in a low light low flow area right?

yo bro That gonio ended up with Peter Tee. get it back from him before it dies in his tank or ... *gulp, maybe he has discarded it... lol...... call him tml quick!

Hi anothermix, Welcome to SRC. As they say, all roads lead to Rome ! Personally I believe that regardless of whether you have a budget of $250, $2500 or 25,000, this hobby will still be as intriguing.... but one thing for sure, you have a lot a lot of reading up to do........ especially threads that are on this subforum http://www.sgreefclu...php?showforum=6 and I particularly like this resource provided by Goondoo http://www.sgreefclu...showtopic=89355 Do also look out for threads started by kksg2000, lcf425 ... these are newbies who have just started their tanks and I believe a lot of questions that they have raised are the same questions that you have too.... In addition, we are also holding a reefing workshop for beginners like you so that you can have an opportunity to meet up with us, hear more about this hobby and have an opportunity to raise any doubts you have on your mind. Pls feel free to join us if you can make it. http://www.sgreefclu...=0&#entry919082 Back top your question proper, with $250, you can only set up a nano tank (small tank) and some basic eqpt. With a small tank, you can only house 3 - 4 small fishes ( small as in not just size, but in terms of bioload too - "how much they Poop" ). I agree with Ray and suggest you skip corals too. keep it as a fish only tank. Tank set option 1: you can drop Peacemaker and check with him the dimension and cost of his 1.5 ft IOS sump tank. (Peacemaker, if you see this post, maybe you can provide this into to TS) I think should be around $150 or so. Then you would just need to get a Aquazonic 1.5 ft lightset which cost about $40+. The rest of the money can go to mini fan, filter, carbon, sand, salt, hydrometer, live rocks, fishes etc. Tank set option 2: get a plastic 1.5 ft long tank ($20), get an eheim 2042 - Liberty 200 HOB filter ($40+), aquazonic lightset 1.5 ft ($40). This only cost about $100 and The rest of the money can go to mini fan, filter, carbon, sand, salt, hydrometer, live rocks, fishes etc. I am using this setup for my girl's tank : http://www.sgreefclu...00&#entry919240 There are other options available for sure but personally I would suggest you approach Peacemaker for details his tank details (option 1). Binosage might also have that tank details. It is more viable for the long run. Have fun reading, researching and keep those questions coming..... but read up more 1st okay? thats also the fun part... cheers Jacky

another way is to check which hydrometer is more accurate and stick to that one lor ....

Crystal Pro 3 stages DI system
jackywongto replied to loong72188's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
1. Does brandnew crystal pro comes with the original cartridges and resins? - yes. but bear in mind, they will last only about 2- 3 months usage for a nano type of tank water usage. 2. where can i get the cartridges and resins you mentioned from? any name, brand etc.? I have posted some pics on my old thread on the refillable cartridge and resins. http://www.sgreefclu...ndpost&p=907642 As to how to get them.. ummm ... my only source is still through Peter Tee but unfortunately he is no longer active in this forum. If you are really keen, you can drop me a PM. I can help link you up with him. -
increase will be just about $40 bro. not much comparing to the livesotck $ you are going to spend in future... haha..... ** advance warning...
-
what testers are you using. They come with instructions?
-
no need to do WC. just wait till ammonia drops to 0, you should see the next spike on nitrite a few days later.
-
sump will offer more stability to your water parameters. yeah place a simple lock there
-
i browse thru 2 articles. easy to read. simple and precise. nice website bro. thanks for sharing !
-
Yup having some LR will be good. if you adding more infuture, then place both verticals will look much better i think. more space for building in future. higher flexibility too.
-
you can try to space them out bro. easier to place corals in future and it will also look more balanced with a gap inbetween the 2 vertical rocks.
-
of course 2 small pieces lah.... slightly bigger than palm size each.
-
hey kiko, it looks nice bro. just wondering....... your floor tiles should be a 2 feet 1 foot square. that means you still have pretty mush space left in front..... you can also consider placing both of them straight upright. then leave the space in front for future expansion. build a lower scape in front. with the 2 tall vertical rocks behind... it will look awesome... PS: I have another 2 piece of artificial rock which I can pass to you. do you want them?
-
most corals do not like constant current driving at one direction. they will be happier with variations....
-
dun have to get prodibio, too expensive and too much for your tank size. just get the cheaper normal bacteria and dose according to reccommended dosage.
