hi guys Sorry I am on medical leave today. Maybe lets have one next week instead. comycus, mossrope, digibee.....sorry for the inconvenience caused.
-
I think there is no cause for concern.. ... I dose them together too despite knowing... haha....... I still have 3 vial of biotim to give away if any of you needs it.....
-
bino, If I recall correctly, biotim are recommended to be dosed 1 week after biodigest.
-
think you should be fine bro... but just to play safe (as I do not know how much LR you are talking about), you can dose a vial of biodigest. It does not matter if you have just dose biotim. Biotim is food for the bacteria (biodigest).

Zoas Fragging Workshop Ever thought of fragging your zoas but not sure where to start? Now you can hear live from Cedricang & Wilsontantw who will share their fragging experience & technics. This workshop is catered towards reefers who would like to pick up this fragging practice. Cedric and Wilson will share how they do it and perform a demo. Participants are encouraged to bring their mini zoas colony and frag them in the workshop. Please bring your tools if available. We will also try to organize this as a frag exchange session so please keep a lookout for more details. Date : 31 July 2010 (Saturday) Time : 10:00 - 12:00 hrs Venue : The Warren Condo Function Room (Beside Choa Chu Kang MRT) - Tentative 1) Jacky Wong 2) 3) 4) In addition, I need help with : 1) refreshment 2) 1 jellycan of NSW Please pm me if you can assist with any of the above. thanks! best rgds. lol.. nice clown!!! need to get two for my girls .... sooooo cute.......

I dose reef nutrition rotifiers, phytofeast, oysterfeast, seachem amino acid 2 times a week then dose kent marine zooplex, phytoplex, chromaplex, 2 times a week reefbooster, garlic drop, vitamin C once a week. skimmer off for 2 hrs after dosing. so far ok. Algae appears only on 4th day onwards. I think most of the stuff gets skimmed away by my MCE.

Bro, your 1.5 ft has limited real estate. if you put a K2 inside there, it will look damn bulky. If there are dead spots in the tank, you would need to add in another nano wavemaker. If you can, get a Vortech MP10. - less heat introduced into your tank. - save precious nano real estate. - more pleasing to the eye. - night mode that gives better comfort to your livestock. - random flow and pulsing mode that your corals will love. I last heard the old models are going for around $300 only.... not sure how true... you might want to consider.

that explains better bro as to why you prefer / promote a longer cycling period. Thanks for taking time to explain.
-
Thanks for sharing Terryz... yeah its hard to prove if longer cycling period benefits stocking of new fishes. Even if the fishes made it, it might not be because of prolong cycling period. There are so many variables... healthy fish, environment, etc etc. Could also be => more pods so fishes have more food to sustain on till they get weaned on pellets/ frozen... maybe they are happier seeing pods all around and feel less stressed and suicidal.

yup. I think everyone is established on this fact now.... now the next million dollar question is.... Is there a difference cycling 1-2 month or cycling 3-6 months?
-
Yup. Then we are in line Lemon. I agree with your latest post.
-
lol bro... me no expert lah. Just a reefer like you. Lemon, Fuel, CFoh, Terryz etc.... these are the established experts who know better..... just sharing thoughts and learning from your thread. but don't take my words seriously hor..... I am throwing out just idealogies most of the time...... maybe just consider them as just some food for thoughts.

These days .... really goggle http://en.wikipedia....acterial_growth Something I do not understand => death phase will only occur when the system is devoid of nutrients => you don't have to worry about food for the bacteria. there will always be living things in your liverocks and so long as there are living things, metabolic waste will be produced and your bacteria will feed on it.the amount however, will control which phase the bacteria is at, but never at death phase. Questionable points: 1) how much livings things are in liverocks and how much waste are produced - unknown 2) how much bacterial can be sustained with these waste? 3) so in stationary phase, there will never be a lack of nutrients for the bacterial and they will never die? Assuming your logic is true, then does that mean that if we throw in more more market prawns (100g lets say) to cycle the tank. After 6 -8 months, there are a huge colony of bacteria colonized and are in stationary phase....=> I can start adding large number of large fishes without concern cause the bacteria are already populated there to handle the added fishes waste? I doubt this is true cause when you add fishes, the bioload is different and a mini cycling need to take place again...... which takes me back to my point.... cycling is a continuous process. when you increase bioload, it will run a cycle again..... you can cycle the tank for 6 months, but when you add fishes that goes beyond your bioload threashold, a mini cycle will happen. this happens for a tank that is cycled 1 month, 3 months or 6 months. but i do agree that prolong period of cycling = good for pods reproduction as long as they are fed.

Bro... keep us posted on your progress .... As I understand it, the purpose of cycling is to let the tank stabilize, let the beneficial bacteria colonize and nitrogen cycle to complete after introducing ammonia (either market prawn or heaps of fish food) into the tank. Now the cycle takes about 4 weeks.... after which the tank is ready. Now assuming that you are not doing anything and just let the tank run by itself empty... the beneficial bacterial having no "food" to consume... will die off and slowly decimate in numbers....... so after a couple of months, the bacteria count probably drastically which then might defeat the purpose of cycling. That is why for prodibio bioclean, there is a vial of biodigest and a vial of biotim. Biotim is food for the bacteria and needs to be introduced to the tank 1 week after biodigest is added. So is cycling for 3- 6 months really good for the tank.... personally I am doubtful unless if you do it correctly. Nothing beats having some fishes after the cycle period to create the ecological balance in the tank.

can can... definitely for FxC members
-
There will definitely be someone who wants to exchange with that bro..... keep a lookout for the frag workshop and exchange party
-
you are busy or you are intentionally cycling it for 8 weeks? really curious...
-
you cycle for 8 weeks Milch???
-
yeah... but damn camera shy.... always find it amazing that fishes are aware that we are aiming the camera at them...... so clever...
-
The hyro is $34?? wow....... lol... we all learn through experience like this bro.... RD stuff are very reputable. They have great after service anyway so no worries. btw, they have a 10% discount from the listed price on their website.

hmmmm seems like gonna be a party at my place when the fragging begins..... ok ok.... Lets do a frag workshop and frag exchange at my place. Gonna revive the frag exch club. everyone gotta bring something to the party. frags have to be screen through 1st... hehe.....

Not expert... but here's my input. 1. From my research, button and mushroom seem good for starter. I would like to know how true is this. yeah mushroom are easy corals. most of them do not require intense lighting and they like low flow. most zoas are very hardy too. 2. Someone has also told me that anemone can be easy as well, as I have seen it in a basic nano tank without cold water. now how true is this ? probably better to skip this 1st. 3. Water parameter, I know KH got to be high at lease 9, and NO3 should be low, <20ppm. I do not have this reading yet and will get some test kit soon. PH and salanity should not b a problem as I'm using Redsea salt. PH and salinity is not dependent on what salt you are using bro. PH is a measure of acidic/ alkalinity of the water. Evaporation will affect salinity... KH, PH, Mg, Salinity, NO3, PO4 are all important parameters to take note of. 4. Lighting... most confuse part, some ppl told me PL is no good as it does not encourage coral growth and recommended T5. What is the comment ? what about LED lighting ? I'm using PL-S 55W 6.5K at the moment. If possible, go for T5. PL might suffice too though.

oops... I stand corrected.... DE is not the sole distributor then.... But BO guidelines as stated in SRC Priority order suitable for Bulk order: 1. The items are not available in Singapore at the time of the bulk order. 2. The items are currently available in Singapore and the bulk order should be first made to a sponsor first, before proceeding to ask from any non-advertiser and then finally... an overseas option. 3. The items is not carried by any of the local LFS or sponsor here in Singapore. So bulk order should be made thru a sponsor 1st and not just any sources that are cheaper.

haha +10000000 Now just waiting for the BM plugs and frag rack to arrive so that I can clear some space, sell some zoas, recover some $$ and buy new corals.... Sorry Kiko, end up talking about my tank... haha..... ==> Gary's fault ... haha...
