Powerful 7.6-magnitude quake strikes Indonesia

Probably that explains the slow internet access too... -
oops forgot the royal gramma...

Will look weird with 2 ft light hanging over a 1.5 ft tank. Umm FL... nvr though of that, I think it is not the Watts that is critical. I will be going slow anyway. So for the 1st 3 - 4 months, the T5 I have should be sufficient for main mushies. LED / MH should be obtained early next year. Who knows, if my girl dictates, this might end up being a fish only tank My fishes wish list neon goby catalina goby purple firefish / or better still Helfrichi firefish bicolour blenny True Perc Clown Mandarin

not sure if I have said this before but wow... everything looks nice and healthy

Ya... eyeing either the sigma 50mm 1.4 or the canon 50mm 1.8 Heard there's some issues with the Canon 50mm 1.4 But then again... too much stuff to buy... need to prioritize. Still have not got my MH/LED. That one comes first. Meanwhile I'll use my zoom lens 1st. Still capturing some decent shots with those. Anyone owns a Canon and can share lens? hehe? I have the 28 - 55 and a 70 - 250mm lens

yet to get my prime lens... this thread is itching me......

Was about to get the viper but changed my mind due to the following: 1. the fixture gets very very hot = shorter lifespan for product. 2. Worried about arm loosening over time. 3. I am clumsy, might knock the light into tank during maintenance 4. Not decided on MH or LED 5. Do not wish to strain the acrylic with too many hand-ons on the back wall. 6. Think it will look a little cluttering with the arm stretching over the tank. Trying to keep the tank as open and neat as possible.

i meant 2 probes in the main tank for delighting ato. 1 at the resevoir. For Tunze, i think the probe can be hidden inside the surface skimmer cleaner. Need to find out more. But agree, the DE seems to be good value for $$. Yeah leak tested. all good and left with a few bucket of water than I do not know what to do with it. The joints are clean with no bubbles. They do have experience with making tanks. Just that they are not specialist to advise what is the size of IOS needed etc. you need to provide them with the specific dimensions. I consulted Dama and they suggested that I make a 6mm tank. But Henkebe advised making a 8 mm one to prevent warping. But I guess I will know in a few weeks. Yeah my T5 is 2x 16W. quite weak.

Arh yours is the wall mount tank.... how about just the Tunze 9002 skimmer? think that will be about 5cm width.

Setting up new marine tank
jackywongto replied to Peihao83's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Is it? Paiseh.. I thought he is still pondering or he wanted to go with LPS and fishes..... I shall not confuse him further then. -
Hmm actually I dislike the Tunze circular collection cup. Thinking of customizing it to have a hose direct the waste to a collection bottle at the bottom of the tank. Well can only plan on this when I see the actual skimmer. If anyone has any idea, let me know pls.

Thanks bud! The reason i did not do an IOS is because of cost and flexibility. I also wanted to have that little extra gallon without IOS. The acrylic maker are not tank specialist so I need to be very precise with the dimensions which I am not very good with. If anything is wrong, I would have to birng it back to them to redo the tank.... just don't have time for those things. Rather stay with the KISS theory (Keep it simple) The background is black So I am hoping it will not be too obvious. For the lighting, I will definitely end up with a hanging fixture. Just whether it is a DIY LED, or Eco KR2 or Giesseman Nova... I am still undecided. I did try looking for melamine sponge. Carrefour was out of stock. The sundry stores had ones that comes with Japanese wordings and it seem there are 2 different packaging. Not sure which one i should get. Did not have a chance to drop by IMM. Yeah for a start I will use Mr Clean and in the meantime try the local ones on my tank cover as an acid test. I have been thinking about cleaning the acrylic near the edge around the sand bed. I usually siphon the sandbed when doing wc. SO I guess I will off the pump and try to siphon the sand around the walls away then clean the tank wall. hopefully this will minimize scratches. I think it is inevitable that I will get scratches a the base. Just hope i can minimize it. yup i have heard about the credit card trick. Just wondering if anyone else here in this forum owns an acrylic? would love to hear from them.

Setting up new marine tank
jackywongto replied to Peihao83's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
LOL depending on eqpt, a 4 ft tank can cost $XXX - $XX,XXX Work backwards lor. Decide on the budget you want to spend on the tank (including monthly maint) Then decide what type of livestock you would like to keep. Next decide on the tank size. 3 ft or 4ft (which fit into your budget more) With that, then you know what kind of eqpt you would need Mh or T5 or PL, chiller or fan, high end skimmer or low end, CR needed? etc etc DEpending on what you would like to keep, some of these things are good to have but not necessary. You can upgrade the non-critical items later. Because you are new, I would suggest you get a tank from a LFS rather than buy 2nd hand. Make sure you get from a supplier who can support you if you have any queries. Will have less hassel in the long run. OR just spend $100 - $200 on a simple 2 feet tank 1st and keep a fish only tank (clowns, damsel) and learn on the way. You can learn about tank cycling, stocking, water conditions etc. It will be fun too. Does not need to have the largest possible and best to start with. when you are more confident and knowledgeable later, you can invest on a 4 ft project : -
Very nice. Will be a fantastic tank down the road. Did you do any coating on the hinges, screws? Can delay / minimize the rust effect. Ever thought of getting some stickers to paste on the screws on the "L-shaped support bracket"?

Very nice bro. messy in a very nice way.
