  1. Read through some of his old threads. quite interesting happenings. would encourage all interested parties to read old threads and make your own sound judgement call. cheers
  2. FOr 4yrs and below, I think they will love it, if you have 6 yrs and above, they will realise a lot of things. so few rides, characters etc. not exciting enough. I agree.
  3. lol yeah. dun mind keeping it as a backup anyway so its ok.
  4. So peter, where are you going this week? I need some cleaning crew and a mini tang to help me keep the algae in check. Sorry arh Chris, here I go again "off-topic-ing" everyone's thread.
  5. goggle around the web. Should have plenty of info. in simple terms: fish waste produces ammonia bacteria in your tank will convert ammonia to nitrite as time progresses. another batch of bacteria will convert nitrite to nitrate. can grown mangrooves / set up algae scrubber to reduce nitrate. (there are many other ways) People has taken great pains to write this article to help newbies like you. Please reciprocate by making an effort to read them http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82945 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=270 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3141
  6. Chris Yours scaping done yet? rgds Jacky
  7. much nicer with the hood. Larry, you gotta do something about all those wires dangling above your chiller.
  8. you might want to highlight if it is black or white sand.
  9. I used them for my sand together with SW purchase from LFS. I have added 4 fishes with just a couple days cycling time and till today I have not seen any spike in ammonia or nitrite. I have been dosing bacteria for the initial week though. The other factor is that I have been using cured rocks and rocks from reefers. Verdict: Overall I think it helps to shorten the cycling time tremendously but pls do not treat it like a miracle sand. Ultimately if you understand the nitrogen cycle and practice sensibility, you will be able to leverage on these sand capabilities. I would recommend using them if you can.
  10. seems like everyone is on mega project this weekend. I have got a red sea skimmer lying around if you guys need it.
  11. Ah Siang, Kiko We intentionally hit the park on weekday so it was not so bad. Each ride waiting time was only about 5 mins. So she got to sit the madhatter cup, jumbo, carousel over and over again Each photography session was about 15 mins. Overall I think it was very good. It did get a bit more crowded towards the later part of the day though. Going in school holidays and weekend will be very very bad. It is pretty cold there now. 15 deg cel? Freezing when the wind blow over. This park is pretty small compared to the one in LA / Orlando. Probably only 1/3 of the size. They do not have a lot of characters as well. Did not see Chips and Dale, Donald, Tigger etc. There are also other attraction in Orlando not available here. (ex: Minnie's house) There are also a lot of China folks so you can imagine the shouting, shoving and pushing. Surprisingly, all the folks kept their smoking only in the smoking corner Overall I would not reccommend it. If you have the time and dough, go for the one in Tokyo at least. Orlando would be the best. Multiple theme parks there. Thanks Poomoon, She is much better now.
  12. yah i think she really enjoyed herself despite her 38 deg cel fever. heres more pics
  13. hmmm not sure what you mean but the purpose is for fellow reefers to meet up and go LFS together. I have a miserable Wish that can prob sit 6 person.
  14. The prob is the margin for error is so small. so any wrong move and your tank will wipe. Ummm..... I rather be safe for the 1st 1 - 2 years I guess
  15. No I decided not to go the the goldfish street. This trip is for my wife and princess so I thought it would be better to keep the focus on making them happy.
  16. well the best thing is not to go down when you do not intend to get anything. that will help. GO stuff is expensive and can easily burn a hole if you go there regularly. I have decided to fill my nano with non exotic and more economic corals. I think if there are healthy, the tank would still be very nice.
  17. Hi, Anyone would like to visit LFS together? This Saturday. 21 Nov Venue not decided yet. Probably start from the west. We will try to hit those LFS with recent shipments. Maybe we meet at CCK at start off from LCK, CF towards ML, then SL, AM, GO etc. Anyone knows what time does LCK/ CF opens? Let me know if you are keen, drop me your mobile no. and pls kindly inform if you are able to provide transport. This is highly informal so pls feel free to drop your comments/ suggestions. 'cheers Jacky
  18. who ask you so ill disciplined. no space still stock and stock.
  19. try to keep it stable, that is the most important. 8.1 is ok too. Try to leave to leave it at 8.1 for a few days 1st. If it is stable, leave it. If you really want, then you can slowly raise it gradually to 8.2 That will do.
  20. wah grats! your new tank is finally here. more space for more corals already.
  21. gonna start this topic rant off againzzz?
  22. Come loh. This Saturday can come and collect. Need to ask Sherman and Ray to come and get theirs too.
