  1. Gotta blacklist this thread already ..... too poisonous........
  2. yah I love watching them do that too..... simply awesome & intriguing ...
  3. Sound so discouraging... lol but there is a tad of truth to it. +1
  4. hmmm 1 feet is even more difficult to maintain. you need to be very on the ball with husbandry chores. Those standard 2ftx1ftx1ft plastic tank is usually good for a start. but if you have bought the 1ft one already, its ok. make the best out of it. Is it a 1ft x 1ft x 1ft?
  5. ....... did you manage to train him to sit and rollover too? Gosh......
  6. As long as some lands on the sand bed, the mandarin will eat it sooner / later. most of the fishes don't eat food on the sand bed.
  7. simply inspirational..... swee swee......
  8. better not. he will die faster in my tank. I am getting a flame angel , royal gramma later. + my maroon clown ===> sure mayhem thanks for the offer bro.
  9. Send your mandarin to "Lemon pellet - training school". I need to enroll mine early too.
  10. cool.... lemon, gotta let us know how you train that mandarin.
  11. He got a pellet feeding one or did he wean one onto pellets?
  12. yeah I hate shrimps for that reason and they cause the corals to close up. esp Cleaner shrimps who doesn't clean anymore..... tsk tsk tsk....... keep them occupied with krills before you float the frozen food.
  13. kekeke... might as well get a resun chiller then....
  14. Let me know if you are successful in getting him weaned onto pellets. I am getting a mandarin down the road. I used to just float frozen food all over my FOWL tank in the hope that my mandarin will get to eat some of it missed by my fishes. thoughts - just thinking aloud. 1) feed the fishes pellets 1st then mysis. hopefully they will be less interested 2) if you are trying to wean him, chop the pellets to finer bits and soak it with mysis. target feed him. slowly increase the pellets and reduce the mysis. hopefully he migrates over. 3) grow chaeto in a corner?
  15. lol SL advised me to do that in the past.... yup a lot of salt spray. the other point to note is that as the air inside the canopy is warm already, it might not be that effective in an enclose tank. I dunno for sure. Just a thought.
  16. +1 Try to house livestock within the natural capabilities of the tank. more live rocks, biohome are better alternatives. more practical.
  17. Hmmm .... yours is the enclosed tank type. Personally I do not favour this type of tank as heat gets trapped inside. you can try lifting the lid and see if that helps. (May use another fan to blow at the water surface.) Create more turbulence at the water surface too. might help. Other alternatives: 1: Fans Dun think you can add fan unless if you remove the top and get another set of light. Temp should go down to about 28 - 30. 2: Chiller not sure if you want to invest in a chiller. The 2nd hand resun ones are not so expensive. sometimes $100 - $150 in pasar malam. If you every get one, I can pass you the u bars. I have a spare set with me.
  18. you might want to contact Sisreefer. She has some small liverocks that she wanted to let go a couple of weeks back.
  19. relocation of the mushies. The red mushrooms are literally under shelter. only 1 polys is exposed to light. Let's see how they fare after this. from this to this Ray, I have detached your mushroom and place them in the rear with low flow and light. They are residing on a small piece of coral chip on the sand bed. The flourescent mushroom has been send to the side at the back. Since this is going to be a 3 sided view tank, I guess I can start filling the side up too.
  20. Yup and they are doing well But just trying to raise the dKH to 10 so at least the PH will not fluctuate so much.
  21. Not so sure about the calcium precipitation part and corals eating calcium theory but carbonate is on the opposite PH end of Calcium. Increasing one will lower the other and vice versa. without Mg, the calcium/ carbonate cannot dissolve in water... so if your MG is low, you buff and buff the other 2 with additives also no use. Mg need to be ard 1250 at least to hold the calcium and carbonate levels. ... agar agar like that.....
  22. yeah dkh 12 is alright. with higher dkh, Ph fluctuations will be lower. You have good parameters. Think Iwarna NSW is quite good then.
  23. Sherman, Ray you guys free to come over on Saturday to collect the mushie frags? cheers Jacky
