  1. Well I would not say it is a flaw.... It is just their style aka ELOS way. ML ELOS demo tank has a MaxSpect clipped side by side with a ELOS LED. both look as cool. The disadvantage is: 1) hindrance during maintenance 2) unadjustable height. 3) might not be able to clip if you have lots of HOB eqpt. advantage: 1) no need to drill wall/ mount bracket 2) looks neat, no dangling wires Really depends on individual tank.
  2. no worries. this is good for learning anyway. at least we are not talking about if Megan Fox is a man or lady haha..... Can take out the frag, dry the underneath, apply epoxy, hold them together for a min, then put back into the water. corals will survive.
  3. yah..... cannot imagine how my wife will look when I strip the skimmer and clean tonight.... too much time spent on this already. Think I will leave it to the weekend. Do WC and clean the skimmer and cannisters. Ooi.... ya not old lah......
  4. 1) maybe placed a piece of acrylic (about 8m) on top of the tank and place the light on top of it. You acrylic should have a catch at the edge so that it will not drop into the tank 2) Check Digibee's thread and make something like his light stand. 3) If it is too bright, you can lay a piece of plastic to diffuse the ligh a little. ** check with Peacemaker how he does it. 4) MarineLife also sells it.
  5. I think the pipe is quite long to the surface. SO even if pump fails, it will not fill up the sump.
  6. +1 on hanging the lights. Then can lower and raise as needed. easier to acclimatize livestock to LEDs especially when you can raise them. MaxSpect now has the hanging kit. should go for it. just make sure your wall bracket length is correct.
  7. so small light set hang from ceiling or wall will look funny I think. Do an acrylic stand and mount the light on the stand?
  8. yah nice scape. what is that 2 white tube in the background? u using under gravel filtration?
  9. lol such a mystery. maybe dropped inbetween the rocks or somewhere? - turn on just the blue LEDs. see if you can spot them (If they are opened and the colours are nice, very easy to spot.) - try using torch light to try to locate your it Homefix DIY has plastic mesh with various hole size. you can try exploring that option.
  10. dimension indicated on this thread. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83467
  11. your zoas frag on a small piece of rock or just the polyps itself? your IOS does not have a "teeth" barrage?
  12. Yes I epoxy in the water. Peter, the epoxy gives out a slime.... I suspect the internal of the skimmer got too slimy and is not able to foam after that or maybe the airvalve got choked.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement guys. Will know how the corals fare when I get back tonight. Last night almost feel like jump dumping everything in the tank and go to bed without scaping. Hey I realize each time after I used D&D epoxy, my Tunze 9002 will not be able to foam after that. you literally need to strip the skimmer and clean every single part (hose, air nozzel, pump.....) before it can function again.
  14. Not getting... I get another 10 will also be feasted by that worm....
  15. we went shopping for ... lol Jireh to get my artificial rock and then headed to C328 to get Kent Marine additives for corals.
  16. no lah... just clearing other organisms i guess. Peter's tank a lot of nutrients one.... prob got left over food thats why.... wahahahahaha..... serious hor... not joking though I am laughing..... wahahahahaha
  17. thanks bro. It looks damn ugly now. I basically just slot left right center without much thoughts. I love my previous scape so much better. Now it is like a lego block castle.... square, linear, steps, sigh......... get the picture. hopefully it does not look too bad when the corals open up tomorrow.
  18. sorry to hear that Kiko. So yours dwindled away over a period of time due to neglect. then mine could have been killed by that bristleworm. Mine was fine and healthy before its death.....
  19. soooo freakin tired. What was supposed to be a simple addition of artificial rock turned into a complete disaster and anohter 3 hrs work! Just when I have found a suitable place to put my rock, the minute I took out my hand from the tank, the whole bloody rockscape collaspe. Shouldn't have tried to move the entire scape back by a inch earlier. totall regretted it. The rocks fell on yumas, cloves, gonio toppled facing down..... had to do a 50% rescape. took out corals, restack rocks, re-epoxy, OMG.... totally shack. Then realized some of the zoas frag has been detached. reglued, repositioned, ..... bla bla bla Worst thing is that I am not prepared for this and cannot do WC. turn on the cannister to a stronger flow. Placed half a piece of polyfilter into the tank. Now hoping for the best and that there will be minimum casualty. .... Grrrr what a terrible night..... and it was supposed to be hamster maintenance night... not the tank!
  20. get a siphon tube. set to very low flow and the detritus will be sucked out. When u see the sand is about to be sucked too high into the tube, lift the tube up away from the sand. Use one hand to hold the plastic tube in the tank and the other hand hold the rubber tube which the water is flowing out near the pail. You can also easily control the flow by pressing the rubber tube to limit the suction power. Sorry if it is kinda fuzzy, try my best to explain already.
  21. lol no no. I just want small frags and keep more variety instead of a big chunk of zoas here and there. wanna see my zoas bloom......
  22. got this today.... will be migrating my yumas to this rock instead of leaving them on sandbed. Hope I can find space to put this piece in.
