Hi, Thanks for your kind feedback. No fish, no coral .... hmmmmm ... what will life become The area of DSB is only 9" x 6" and 6" deep. Cannot be too big, else my 4' tank will become only a small service apartment with no bathroom attached. Let me put on my thinking cap again for another idea while doing my daily routine in the toilet and you guys comment, ok? Limpc

Wah, very confuse now. Should I or shouldn't I buy Actinic Blue PL. I saw in the website that there is a Actinic Blue and Actinic 03 Blue. Hon, which one is yours ? AT's definitely is a Actinic 03 Blue as it is printed on the lamp itself. Limpc

Guys, Where can I find the best price in Coralife Actinic PL ? How much does one cost ? Limpc

Hi all, Need all your feedbacks about this idea which I have, to incorporate a DSB Chamber in my tank. Since I started out on the wrong footing, thus I have to explore all possibility to reduce Nitrate. This is a glass chamber with over and underflow into the chamber. The top portion will have all the mechanical filter means and the lower 6" will be filled with #1 sand as DSB. The middle portion will basically be a holding area for water to be siphoned to the external canister. Will this be a effective DSB for nitrate reduction. PLease refer to this simple drawing. Anyway feedback is highly appreciated. Limpc

Hi AT, I was referring to Coralife Actinic PL. The Blue PL does not give any glow on the coral. Could you remember when new, the Coralife Actinic PL, did give a nice glow on the coral ? If so, I will replace them. I read somewhere in the web that PL Actinic is not effective as FL Actinic. Comments please. Thanks Limpc

Hi all, I was using FL Actinic (Acadia) all along until I upgraded to AT's ex-DIYed PL Actinic. The green glow on some corals, eg stripe mushroom is not as luminous as FL Actinic. I'm missing a nice night view of my tank now. Guys, got any comments on this or is it the PL Actinic is near expiry ? Limpc

More .... Rivet stainless steel chain to the aircon ducting at strategic location to hang the whole fixture.

here's few more shots on this DIY. Added an acrylic sheet for protection against water splashes. Made a mistake by using too thin acrylic. It warps when the lights are on, thus, I use tapes to secure to the reflector. Limpc

Hi Sinn, Let me check out internal circuitry of the eBallast first. Will try to browse the web for more info. Apparently, there is no info in Elbiru website (probably trade secret). Thought the single output eballast costs $10. My memory must be failing. Limpc

still thought it is those plastic fish floating in fresh water tank. Very Pai Sei. Limpc

Hi Sinn, You got me there. Have not explore into this option, because a single output eBallast is half the price of double output. In terms of cost saving, there is no advantage. A sure work case would be to install a switch with 4 pairs of contacts. In my opinion, I would not choose this option because even if one PL is switched on only, the power consumption by the eballast remains the same for double output. Why would you want to do this ? Hi Kelstorm, From the picture, it looks like a pole but it is actually a solid wooden plank of about 8" width and slightly less thank 1" thick. It is also double as a display shelf now. There was not this plank initially in my original furniture design. If it is really a pole, I guess soon my yellow tang will be doing pole dancing in the tank. I'll try to show more pictures to kill everyone's curiosity. Limpc

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I really take my hat off for bawater's thesis. Sorry too late in the night to disgest the valuable info. Will try tomorrow. AT, you were right. This phenomenon only happens yesterday when I finally completed your ex-DIY PL light. I believe there is a drastic change in the amount of light. From 2PL + 2FL to 9PLs now. Also, this is the 5th day of the dosing of AZ-NO3. These are the 2 major events which took place past few days. Limpc

Hi, Will try to do so. One question, The PL Coralife Actinic is not as "strong" as compared to my previous FL Acadia Actinic (30W). What I meant by "strong" is that the greenish glow of green stripe mushroom under Coralife is not as attractive as Acadia FL. Is this normal or the Coralife is near expiry ? Limpc

Gotten AT's PL light and have successfully modified to hang above my tank. Reduce the overall length to 55inches, change all the lights holder. Effort well spent and unforgetable cuts on my hands from the sharp edges of the reflector. Anyway, lots of experience gained. So if anyone got PL DIY questions, please ask me. Next project will be to DIY a wooden light hood and transfer the current circuitry over. This will gives me more room to space out the 9 PLs currently under the reflector. Limpc

Came across these creatures in LFS. Really tempted to buy but need to do some research first. Anyone has experience with these creatures ? What does it feed on ? Water condition ? Reef safe ? Fish safe ? Whatever comments is highly appreciated. Limpc
