thanks, guys. Looks like I'm ending up in a deadlock situation. Limpc

Hi all, I saw recently at a LFS the above product from AZOO. Could not find further information on the web, though. Basically, there are 2 adjoining cylinders which will be utilised to cultivate anaerobic bateria. There is a bottle of solution bundled to enhance and speed up the growth. The retail price is reasonable. I'm sure pro-DSB reefers will advocate about DSB but unfortunately, I'm one of few who do not have the luxury of in-tank space, sump and refugium. Anyone has any experience using this device for effective nitrate reduction ? Limpc

Hi Norvin, So where can I get it ? Saw in some LFS, only in small packets. Limpc

Hi, Anyone knows how much the BIOHOME cost ? I'm thinking of putting 2 tray load of it in the canister. Do you guys think it will help in reducing Nitrate ? Limpc

Hi all, Saw a few postings about the merit of DSB and I'm still struggling with high nitrate level. I would like to ask all experts about the mechanism behind DSB. Let me try this: 1. DSB reduces oxygen supply and thus provides environment for anaerobic bateria to survive and multiply. 2. These bateria consumes Nitrate and thus lowering the NO3 level. My question is if the bacteria are inches deep, how can they reach the water flow to consume the nitrate ? Thanks in advance Limpc

Hi Hong, Thanks for reply. I tried the grape and feather. What then is critical for the survival of these ? Limpc

Hi, Bought a couple of times those macroalgae in LFS, but all the time became botak liverock. Only for my NO3, rest of parameter are within limits. Could anyone shed some light ? Limpc
-
really beats me. I'm only struggling with NO3. Limpc

got similar problem, months ago. Ca about 600ppm. The rest of the water parameter were within tolerance. Did not do anything different. Initially thought JBL test was not reading correctly. But now, with same kit, my tank's CA is about 450ppm. Don't ask me why ? I'm blurred too. Limpc

Thanks, AT. Does it mean BIO balls are already out dated ? In your opinion, what would be good filter media for an internal overflow system ? thanks in advance. Limpc
-
Hi all, I have an internal overflow filter with BIO Balls. I would like to find out from experts in this forum about the water level in the filter. For optimum operation, should the BIO balls be submerged totally in water ? I read from couple of sites that water should be just trickling thro' the balls for bacteria to generate and survive. This ensure sufficient oxygen for bacteria. Any comments please. Limpc

We should boycott that shop to stop the precedence of this unbecoming practice. Limpc

no problem, AT.

Hi Novin, Thanks for advice. My furniture and decor disallow me to incorporate a sump. Looks like I have to look for new apartment to reduce nitrate. hmmmmm Limpc

Hi all, Thanks for all the replies. Need your expert view on my situation. I do not have a sump unfortunately. My tank filtration is a canister, a internal overflow and a protein skimmer. In your opinion, what is the best way for me to incorporate a nitrate reducer. thanks in advance for any comment. Limpc

Hi, From all the replies, phosphates is the culprit of the dino...... thing. Any idea, why phosphates exists ? If phosphates were to be eliminated, would there be any side effect to the livestock? Limpc

Hi AT, Sigh, thought I could "enlighten" my tank ... If you dont mind, could you pls call me. I would still want to explore the possibility of shortening the hood. If the overall is 4'4", then only 2" overflowing at each end. Awaiting your kind call. Limpc

Hi all, Came across this product from LFS. Anyone has experience with this product ? Comments please. Recently, I'm wrestling with the Nitrate in my tank. Limpc

hello AT, I'm keen on your offer. But my tank is only 4ft, what is the overall length of your light ? I'm going to PM you my contact. Limpc

Hi Hongxiqian, The old saying always say BIG is good. I'm not sure. Are the big ones AC ? If they are then, I'm a little concern. Once I drop my DC fan into the tank and nothing was damage, not even the fan. Lucky man. Cannot image if AC touched the saltwater. Anyway, I manage to maintain my tank at 28 deg C. The fan is switched on when light is on and off when light is off. Try to cut some corner and save some money. Limpc

Indo-Pacific Coral Reef Field Guide? Think I saw in Changi Airport. About $63.00. Very ex. but almost bought it. Limpc

You guys never fail to amaze me. I mean, you all are so knowledgeable. If I were to ask ... out of the list given, which one should I get first on the criteria it has to be light and compact for me to carry around esp for my biz trip ? Of course, the quality of picture has to be high. Limpc

Hi, Only can answer one of your question. The fans on the shelf are display unit only. When you ask, Chan will get a new one from his storeroom. I bought the 6-gang fan from him. Good deal. Elsewhere selling about $30 more. Limpc

Wonder if anyone saw the light along the pathway of Pasir Ris MRT (along bicycle racks)? Well, they look as if like MH quality. They have white casing and are really bright. What kind of light are those ? Limpc
