  1. Blue is the Neutral. If leakage voltage/current, I think it's still the earth (green color one). LimPC
  2. I guess the other probe goes to the Earth and multimeter set to AC voltage range. There was once when I had this leakage in my tank, I used a test pen to touch the water and the damn thing lighted up. Scary! So, that's why I wanted a ground probe badly. LimPC

  4. You are right with the European plugheads, AT. For all reefers, it's advisable to use the earth pin wherever possible. LimPC
  5. Hi AT, A little correction here from my understanding. By merely changing 2 pin to 3 pin, does not improve the safety of the device because the earth pin is still unconnected. There is still no path for leakage current to flow since the earth pin is not gounded to the device. I believe your gound probe takes care of all possible current leakages. My 2 cents. LimPC

  7. Brother Seahorse, We need your wise words here. Guys, I dun mind DIYing for fellow brothers (oops, sisters as well) if I can get the Titanium spokes. Question: Why titanium spokes ? Can't we use high grade stainless steel ? I strongly believe we all need this safety precaution. LimPC
  8. where are you seahorse ? We need your help. talking about titanium spoke, any idea where I can find here ? Suddenly, I have this fear that one day, my kids might itchy fingers and touch the water since my tank is an open top one. Prevention better than cure. LimPC
  9. Hi all, There were talks about stray voltages lingering the tank due to faulty equipment. Any of you have purchased or DIY a grounding for the fish tank to prevent electric shock ? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks LimPC
  10. Hi, I have tried 36W PL on 55W eBallast. Working ok! So, dun think there will be any problem. But please dun quote me if you end up with BBQ fish, shrimp, mushroom. LimPC
  11. Hi all, Currently, I have a 2ft tank (fish only) with a sump. I thinking of migrating to another 2ft tank, deeper and broader. can I just transfer the sand, LR, livestock, to the new tank maintaining the same sump all at once but in logical sequence, of course ? Or do I have to recycle the new tank ? thanks in advance for any advice. LimPC
  12. Hi, Got the same problem. After lights out, those creatures become more active. What I did for continuous few nights .... remove the buttons from the tank, using a pincher and a magnifying glass, remove whatever I can find. LimPC
  13. Here's what I do ..... pound the garlic, put them into water. Defrost MS or BS and soaked into the water garlic. Then feed the fish with the MS/BS but of course w/o the garlic. LimPC

  17. Hi all, Read a couple of threads about DIY moonlight with Blue LEDs to simulate a night light effect. What difference would it make if the tank were to be lighted just by the actinic blue light ? Afterall, the glow on the green colored coral would be more outstanding. By switching on the actinic, are we disturbing the sleep time of corals ? So, question is why blue LED light when we all have actinic blue ? Thanks for any feedback. LimPC
  18. Hi all, A happy ending to this thread. I bought a Powder Brown Tang this weekend. Very nice. Seldom see in LFS. The yellow trimmings against its brownish body is very constrasting and when its fins were opened up, whoa. Fortunately, it is getting along very well their fellow cousins. My zebra damsel tried to be naughty but this fellow did not give face to the old birds. Looks like a good combination now and will have to stop stocking for a couple of months. Will try to post a picture if I can get a good shot. Thanks all, LimPC
  19. thanks, pal. Sounds good. hawk fish here I come. Just a little side track. I used to have a Coral Beauty in my tank for a long while and just about a month ago i added the flame angel. That poor Flame kena bullied and whack by the coral beauty. Can you imagine the pain I had, a $8/- fish tekaning a $40/- fish ?? So, my maid and I spent the whole saturday cornering the coral beauty and finally got him out of the tank but only after removing almost all my LR into a bath tub. So, for the next fish, I would really want to hear from fellow forumers' experience. Guys/gals, any other suggestions besides hawk fish ? Thanks LimPC

  21. Hi all, I have a 4 ft tank and currently I have Yellow tang, blue tang, flame angel, royal dottyback, 4-stripe damsel (qty=2). Wanted to add a purple tang or a sailfin tang but was advised against them by a LFS because sure kena bullied by yellow tang. What would you add if you were me ? Must be reef safe. thanks for any suggestion. LimPC
