  1. Huh PM here PM there... got solution ah? share share leh!
  2. NICE!! How did you get the rocks to stay in place? Epoxy ah?
  3. Swee.... somehow the acros look cute in their little clumps
  4. No lah bro... I DIY-ed this existing housing to have a remote ballast and inbult fan....
  5. Cooling ROD? First time I ever heard of such a thing but the closest thing I can think of is the Ice Probe... suitable only for smaller tanks and costs something like $300+? Works on the peltier effect... IMO, not worth the money esp since everyone upgrades to a bigger tank... hehe
  6. Saw someone use ambipure or something before.. hehee... Just bear with it, no way to get rid of smell one... ventilate the room more loh

    CO2 Bottle

Be wary of those instant top ups... they basically force CO2 into the bottle from another larger CO2 bottle... in the end you don't really get a full top up as the CO2 is not properly compressed... Also, my old CO2 bottle got busted when I went to one of those instant top ups.. Please note that instant top ups are not the same as the 1 for 1... the 1 for 1 usually they send the canisters back to the factory to be properly re-filled... (well at least we hope they refill it properly)
  8. Hi guys, Anyone know where I can get clear PVC tubes in diameters >1"? Thanks! Ervine
  9. Glad to help.. good luck with the project
  10. Looks good!! I think the camera would make the sides look a lot darker than they actually are... or perhaps can try raising the lights a little so that the spread is wider? Either way, nice work with the rocks...
  11. Peaceful? Hm.. mine got into a neck lock with my clown... and it doesn't really look like it's doing it's job...
  12. Not that I know of... probably leave your skimmer off for a few hours after adding water with the anti-chlorine...
  13. Don't you think it's a bit like the luohan craze but only in terms of a coral?
  14. Huh the reactor is basically just a plastic (acrylic of PVC) cylinder, how would it be damaged? You mean if too much water gets pushed into it but only a small output allowed? So pressure bulit up thus reactor spoil? I doubt it would happen... worse comes to worse the reactor would leak if not properly sealed
  15. Er just curious but what's a chiam si tong skimmer??
  16. You must be adding a particular brand of anti-chlorine right? What's the name again... Nutrafin brand right? A lot of people have experienced excessive foam production after using it... I wonder why...
  17. But it doesn't matter for normal centrifugal water pumps right? So they will push what ever water they can get through without any damage to the pump... Correct me if I am wrong...
  18. I think the concrete blocks thing is good if you have a fish room.. so your tank is in the wall, then no point having a nice cabinet or stand or anything, just something rock solid can liao.. In fact can just ask the contractor to do up a concrete structure for your stand, reinforced concrete of course.... so it'll be nice and flat.. But of course not too sure about weight problems esp in HDBs..
  19. WHy not get the smallest pump you have but use a ball valve to adjust the flow rate? Or a tap at the end or something that restricts the output?
  20. Yup there would be a fan blowing at the water surface as well.. as for the ballast, i'll just be leaving it as it is... see how things go, too lazy to drill another hole to cool the ballast (although I originally wanted to have it) as for colour temp change due to the cooling effect, shrug, at most i turn off the fan... perhaps after I get my bulb I can run some simple checks on colour temp and temp with fan on and off... then can get some practical results.. Will keep you guys posted..
  21. Sorry ah, but I'm still very much confused about how much kalk to dose... Eg. I use the tubby attached to reactor... How much kalk do I put in at the start? It's dependent on both my evaporative rate and calcium intake right? So isn't it still a little bit of trial and error? Donno leh, I've been reading up but I can't seem to understand it... esp the bit about using a reactor..
  22. Alright thanks a lot!! Crab - PM-ed u
  23. Hi guys, I've heard several quotes for a 2' cube tank I've been hunting around for and I got one that's pretty reasonable, however it's not tempered glass. Was just wondering if it's okay to use normal 10mm glass for a 2ft cube rather than tempered.. Thanks...
