  5. I think they use Sera ... Went there before.. and their tanks are.. errr... not very nice but should check out their plankton culturing, the chamber is larger than me!! Then there are the HUGE HUGE HUGE pumps, so huge that they are housed in another building altogether...And the huge UV blasters, huge skimmers etc etc... not to forget clams bigger than my head!!!
  6. Hm... so it's a macro algae gone rogue... I think it looks okay but the thing is it's snuffing out some of my shrooms, zoos and stuff... quite irritating...
  7. I donno about you guys but the thought of feeding a starfish to a shrimp just gives me the creeps... like feeding luo han live fishes, can't stand it... Esp when the starfishes are alive and the shrimp just lops off a leg or two for a snack... eww...
  8. So how to controllable streams work?
  9. Nitrates hover around 5mg/l, salifert... Phosphates untested but running contraphos... Salinity ~1.025 Temp 26-28 depending on time of day Ca ~460 kH ~8 pH ~8.2 BTW, I tried pulling out the algae but it's VERY stubborn and impossible to pull out every strand...
  10. Yes I know it's not cyno but the thing is it's spreading too fast... over taking space for corals liao.. how?
  11. That depends on what type of moonlight you are looking at... if you want LED moonlight go Sim Lim Tower, if you want other types depends loh....
  12. Wah... interesting but I doubt it will work.. lights don't work the same way as pumps... in fact not all lights are dimmable in the first place... Someone with more electircal experience care to comment on this?
  13. Finally brought back my DC.. here's a pic of what I am talking about.. and BOY this thing is a toughie!! I tried yanking it from the rock but it's clung on so tightly I can hardly get much out... Advice anyone?
  14. Don't go to the wrong shop!! Don't go to the one nearer to the mosque.. cut throat prices.. go to the one near the bicycle shop look for the "not-so-friendly" uncle.... he'll know what you want..
  15. Dyma* has a bad reputation.... used mine for like 1-2weeks gone case liao...
  16. Drilling glass is VERY tricky business and should not be attempted by a novice, probably will spoil the glass and injure yourself at the same time... Also, NEVER NEVER drill tempered glass... although a nice hole might go through, tempered glass is not meant to be drilled as drilling it might cause spontaneous shattering later on in it's lifetime or during the drilling process itself.. For ceramics, can try going for lower speeds but still the possibility of cracking is high...
  17. Just leave it alone.. I have a resident "creature" that spins webs, catches floating food then reels it back in into it's mouth... At first also freaked out, tried to kill it but after failing to I didn't bother... it actually helps to clean up the water a little... heh... But then not too sure if you have the same "creature" as me... was told it's some kind of a snail, but it encases itself into a rock... hm..
  18. Erm I'm looking at diameters of 4"... solid PVC not those bendable types or those found in normal aquarium shops.. sorry if I didn't make myself clear...
  19. Perhaps its because you don't need another pump? and hoses running everywhere... maybe good for seafood but not really for tanks.. + it takes up valuable space in the sump... would be interesting to see if anyone uses this for their tank though...
  20. Hmm... wonder if can DIY, seems pretty straight forward... except I donno what's that white disc? Coffee straining cloth?
  21. Yes it would, but then again most skimmers are clear anyways...
