  1. In fact you can DIY that too! Use a piece of styrafoam for the float, then fashion a lever that will pivot onto on of them luohan tank divider sucker things... attach the tube where the divider should be and there you have it... Seen it before in one of the tank of the month's over at RC... If you want to go the electronic way... try here This was my previous post on it, but the pictures all gone since the last forum migration

  3. Hey that's a pretty good price!! Tank included?
  4. Nice nice.... esp the cabinet and hood
  5. Use a big plastic bottle, puncture a small hole and drip the kalk... easiest method but prob have to do manually everynight... If not go for a Kalk Reactor... I just finished DIY-ing my super cheapo one... might post soon see how first, need to make sure I fix all the leaks..
  6. Why not try blue? Looks more like the real ocean.... But might not bring out the corals that well...
  7. NUH good meh.. all the experiences I have at NUH were horrible... as*hol* doctors, useless advice, etc etc....
  8. During my NSF days also kenna shin splint, wah lau pain until cannot walk up stairs properly... gov specialist still bo chap, so in the end forced to run even when injured.. now leg can say permenantly damaged liao... Even chinese sin seh tell me at that time not to run anymore, stupid ang moh doctors just see x-ray and conclude nothing wrong...
  9. Die lah.. chin up sure fail one... sigh...
  10. Don bother with acrylic...I used to have a small acrylic tank which I dumped because it became very hazy with all the scratches... imagine you scrape off algae but instead leave marks on your tank!!.. EEKS!
  11. puffer is the way to go... and it will remain small not like loaches which will eventually grow quite big...
  12. Eh this New Singapore Shares how does it work? I don't get it, coz my brother got 200 but I got none...

  15. I think the copper will kill corals.. so be careful.. Nobody tried the freshwater dip method before? Grab the fish, dunk in freshwater for a while, then put it back... Er... never tried before so not sure how effective or risky...
  16. Hm... looks like your MH are hooked onto a PVC stand issit? I could be wrong but looks like it from one of the photos...
  17. Ikea shelves are almost always not solid wood... check carefully before you buy.. if it's chipboard or some other compressed wood better be careful... esp since it was not meant to take the weight of the tank..
  18. That's the trap newbies fall into.. getting a small tank thinking it's big enough... there's never a big enough tank!! likewise for cars, houses, bank balance etc...
  19. Mine eats both algae (or rather it LOOKS like it's eating aglae) and flakes that I use to feed my clown...
  20. huh what's voluntary early enlistment for? Go in earlier can come out earlier ah?
  21. If you improve circulation in the sump, more evaporation will take place and thus water temp would go down by 1 or 2 degrees... But depends where this air is being circulated lah.. if you put your sump in an airtight cabinet, you can circulate all you want but there won't be much evaporation and subsequently little heat loss
  22. I think maybe can cool a small swimming pool siah.. hehee...
  23. Huh this example is heat from the cooling tower heat up water what... not heat from the cooling tower made to cool water, it's a whole different ball game... In order for heat generated to be converted into electrical energy you will need a peltier cooler... when there's a large difference between the two faces of the semiconductor, electricity will be produced... but definitely not enough to cool the tank in anyway... Of course if you have enough heat you can boil water, cause a turbine to spin and generate electricity.. but that is of course more for power plants... Even the solar powered fans are pretty weak compared to normal AC or even DC fans...
