  1. mine were horribly shy (purple firefish), so shy that the other fishes probably bullied them to extinction...
  2. Oooo sounds interesting.. how micro is micro?
  3. Huh it's there in the photo mah, how much bigger u need leh bro? It's just the 1 way airline valve ($1 a piece) shoved into the normal rubber hose then added superglue to seal it completely... Anyway there are problems lah... right now there's a severe channelling problem, after a while the kalk just settles down and the water instead of mixing up the kalk just seeps past the channel it previously dug out... Hmmmm.... any ideas how to solve this?
  4. exactly... I believe that's how some other off the shelf product works as well (tunze was it?)
  5. OH YES.. another problem is that everytime I open the KR it overflows... not sure how to solve that though.. Hm...
  6. i think i used the same method, use one of those air hose one way valves, shoved it into the normal tubing...
  7. Problems so far include the sealing of the leaks, which took quite a while. The kalk at the bottom also needs a bit of manual shaking once a day or so to make sure that the water coming in does not form channels in which no new kalk is thrown into the KR. But overall not too bad for $30 right?
  8. This is the same shot with the pump turned on, there's a tiny gyser of kalk that will shoot into the KR resulting in some of it dissolving. So far the speed is just right such that none of the undissolved kalk reaches the top.
  9. Here's the kalk settled at the bottom w/o the pump on...
  10. This is how I connected it up, shoved a one way valve in to do 3 things: 1. restrict back flow 2. slow down the speed of water rushing in from auto-top up's pump 3. allow me to adapt in an air hosing The goop you see is a lot of super glue to seal the gaps coz the KR in constantly under pressure and any gaps will be very obviously leak...
  11. Hi guys, I finally decided to retire my old 4 yr old DIY kalkreactor and wanted to buy a new one but under financial pressure decided to DIY one again instead. After looking at some bro's thread on the tunze (or was it deltec??) method of using the auto top up water to stir the kalk itself it got me thinking that a FR (Fludised reactor) would do about the same, only need a bit of modding.. Anyway I bought a 2nd hand Resun FR1000 and modded it slightly to give you this.
  12. that's one HUGE skimmer bro... show us more!
  13. yes possible but depends on how bad the scratches are. If it's really mild u can try using toothpaste or autosol and give it a good buff with a cloth, if it's too deep u might need a buffing tool and some proper abrasive solution. I have heard however that if the scratch is too deep and you do buff it away you will be making the glass weaker where you buffed...
  14. Anyway bro, why u want them to multiply? it can get out of hand very easily with rodents u know?
  15. guinea pig? They are quite adorable, bigger than hamsters, a bit noisy at times coz they squeak... depending on the temprement some do bite but overall they are like bundles of energy esp. when it comes to feeding time. Go read up about it.. Erv.
  16. Huh there are tailors there? you mean at the bus interchange?

  18. i take my own portrait coz I have my own studio mah.. haha... and I also want to have a suit to keep...
  19. Hey I also wanted to ask this!!! Thinking of making a suit to take my family portrait in... so far cheapest I found are those HDB tailors $168 for jacket + pants... But I donno man, later turns out like crap how?
  20. great news!! better give him a good spanking!
