  1. Paradiz Reef is at the junction of race course road balestier road I believe... However, I've not had any luck keeping them alive for some reason... my dominating macroalgae is some kind of small leafed fern that came with some other algae rock... So far that's the only macro algae that has worked for me.. I wonder why...
  2. You mean macroalgae? If so saw some sea lettuce at PReef
  3. yah don't need very thick but thicker is safer mah...
  4. I also have a problem, my kH levels drop from 11 to 5 every week... but calcium levels hardly budge at all... any reason why?
  5. But how long can it last? If it's a monthly mag by 1 year you'll run out of tanks to feature, articles (good ones) to write, places to visit, etc etc...
  6. Huh so isn't that a negative point? Would be good to get a bottle to start culturing your own though...
  7. i see.. aiyah in that case won't work for me liao...
  8. Sorry guys I need more respondents for the survey.. please assit.. thanks!!
  9. Notice he uses flexible PVC hoses... good stuff man.. wonder where to get those?
  10. Yup seen this before.. great stuff man...
  11. Hi guys, Was thinking of DIY-ing a surge device to get more water movement in my tank.. however when I was contemplating about how to build it.. I realised that there was a possible problem with it. When the surge device fills up, won't that mean that the sump water levels will drop since water is taken out of the tank? If so then if we have a tubby, then won't it keep switching on and off periodically? Thanks..
  12. Simple... make a DIY food ring.. I use a water tubing bent it into a circle (more or less) and connected it with a tubing elbow. Then I used one of em suckers to stick it to the side of the tank... so any dried food goes into the food ring, when it soaks up enough water it will automatically sink...
  13. Huh my blenny occassionally gets into a small wrestle with my false clown... eats my flake food... hides from me most of the time but seldom do I see it chowing down on any algae

    show show show... still confused
  15. There was a discussion previously, basically you need A LOT of mangroves for nutrient export to be substantial enough... so in the end it's not really worth it
  16. Hi guys, I'm a student of NUS and a reefer for >2 years now and I am currently taking the following module: GEK 2006 NATURAL RESOURCES: POLICIES & PRACTICE My team and I have decided to focus our final term paper on the impact (if any) of the marine aquarium industry on the coral reefs in the region and around the world. In addition, we want to find out if the governmental regulations in place now are of any effect to the industry and should they be further exercised to protect the natural reefs. Lastly we also explore the possibilities of high-tech farming possibilities in Singapore to both serve as a method of "re-foresting the reefs" as well as to supplement the aquarium trade with cultivated/propogated corals rather than wild harvested ones. We would appreciate if you take a few moments to fill up a simple online survey for us: Click here for the Survey Thanks in advane and I look forward to your replies. Ervine Lin

  18. Fuji S602Z Olympus mju 400 - gf's
  19. Okie I go check it out.. thanks for the suggestion! Oh one more thing, won't the light from the flash bounce back off the glass??
  20. Performance is NOT the same... you pay for what you get seriously...
  21. Hm.. perhaps I'm too picky but seriously, everything in the middle pic looks as homogeneous, so much so that everything becomes muddled together into one... actually even film cameras are not perfectly white balanced (if there is even such a term for film) I'll try out your flash idea see how it goes.. just frustrated that I can't get more true to life images... maybe it's a hint to upgrade my cam.. hehehe
  22. It would be nice if the "shop" can sell materials for DIY on top of selling the final DIY itself... Things such as acrylic or clear PVC tubes bought in bulk can help cut down costs substantially... Hopefully this can make it seem less commerically inclined...
