  1. but I thought people ususally frag off the RTNed parts to prevent further damage??
  2. i don't think u can get either the mazzei injector or the beckett nozzle locally.. (although I think AT is selling a few becketts)...
  3. Well it's not that you don't EVER have to change the water... the frequency can be reduced... I change my 3ft FW tank's water once in a few months... fishes all doing fine, plants growing too... din bother with CO2 either... but then that's liaos... hehe
  4. Hey Fuel, you into gobies right? I saw some over at the LFS at Ginza... he labelled it shoe goby... everytime it stopped swimming it opened up its black fins which looks like a shoe and rested on the sand bed... quite interesting.. Tot you might want to know...
  5. it's not SELF rotating.... yes can manually rotate but not self rotate (key word is SELF).. hehe...
  6. Actually that might be right if you are doing a planted fishtank... Based on some reseach I did back in my FW days, if you do it right (with a soil based substrate), you don't really need to do any water changes for FW tanks... coz the nitrates are taken up by the plants anyways... But then again, a sump will remove all the CO2 from the water thus rendering the water devoid of dissolved carbon dioxide essential to photosynthesis... But in the case of a marine tank.... that's a different story..
  7. All da best... relax lah in the blink of an eye and it'll be over... the most important thing in NS is to learn to enjoy yourself no matter what... then time will pass by a lot faster...
  8. Wah... "gravity flow" system siah!!!! WOW!!!
  9. Don't be surprised... I've read somewhere on some technique that they can do to pee while standing!! GASP!! But didn't make any sense to me so i can't remember liao.. hahaha
  10. seriously?? Wow.. looks like I kenna chopped... sigh...
  11. I believe polyart carries the maxijet 900 for 45 bucks...
  12. Here's the back view... the plastic backing about 1mm thick.. should be just nice to mod... just the bristles are a bit worrying...
  13. Hm... still couldn't find the brush.. found one but it's base was curved, so not suitable... Anyway, I bought something else, those plastic brush that we use to wash clothes with... Damn cheap, $1 for 2... U guys think this will work?? What I'm afraid is that there the bristles are too close together and might result in a lack of water flow... but if that's so I can simply snip them off... How is it feasible? Don't wanna chop the fans of my MJ impeller only to find that this won't work...
  14. hm... okay I go check it out later see if can find anything suitable or not...
  15. Haha.. that defeats the purpose of DIYing.. i like making things myself.. it's sort of a hobby for me..
  16. Great work!!! Got a hood to go with it?
  17. Sorry to hijack but u using the CL-280 on how big a tank... thinking of getting one...
  18. Shucks... tried finding bioball at another LFS today and AGAIN cannot find a suitable one... Even went to petstores looking for the dog brush.. also cannot find.. ARGH!!!!
  19. But with needlewheels with recirculation pumps, the throughput is simply what you want to put it at right? Whereas for becketts it's a must to have high throughputs for the beckett to function in the first place
  20. Dog hair brush huh... okay will consider...
  21. yah there have been some people selling their 2nd hand chillers in the 200+ range...
  22. Very nice!!! Added feng shui elements with the fu lu shou statues? Hehehee... BTW, where did u get those felxible pvc tubings?
  23. Yah i've been there before... saw them using a sera calcium test kit somewhere.. heheheee...
  24. Energy utilisation wise the needle wheel is a lot more efficient... while becketts require powerful pumps, needle wheels can do away with much smaller ones... In fact there are some SPS reefers out there who use multiple needlewheels over dual becketts... Whatever it is, white cat or black cat, can catch mouse means good cat...
