Had trouble with macro algae before too... always seem to die off.. tried calpura, lettuce all died... but somehow some stray macro algae thrived over all the rest... don't even know what exactly it is... but as long as it's growing I'll just let it be...

havent changed mine in a long time.. >1yr liao I think but algae still triving... u might want to check ur water... Or maybe it's just the macro algae... somehow just go crazy for no reason

i think the cleaner being more of a scavenger will go after anything dead/dying... so dying or dead fish would naturally be it's target... The only time I've seen mine go after a live fish is when the cleaner was doing what it was supposed to be doing... cleaning..

If effluent keeps going out, how is the volume of water in the reactor replaced?

Hm.. it seems that my snail death rate is rather constant... could it be that my hermits are killing them thinking they can use their shells? Coz I've noticed that the emtied out snail shells for some reason fell near some empty hermit shells as well... My hermits are really small, dwarf hermits, snails are turbos... Thanks! Ervine

No number leh... oh but theirs is prob the old batch of chillers... too noisy for my liking..

BTW, you need powerful pumps for eductors to work... it basically gushes water out so quickly that it "sucks" water in from the surrounding areas resulting in what seems like more water flow...
