  1. Oh... Hm.. lemme think I think set up only for 5 days... anyway I have foam liaos..
  2. Eh... can summarise what does this all mean? more efficient?
  3. Hm... i wonder if my riser is too high.. the foam is having a hard time climbing all the way to the top... woke up this morning only to find a little foam still at the top with the same gap between the bottom foam and top... Aiyah I should be patient and wait some more right...
  4. Great job... will this work on other chillers too?
  5. And we have touchdown!! Erm.. okay I think you guys are starting to think I'm freaky...
  6. Eh don't be surprised.. I'm an architecture student.. one day might just be able to literally build my own house... As for car.. eh.. too complex for me.. haha.. DIY skateboard maybe?
  7. I see i seee... better be safe than sorry.. moving it away from my maze... BTW... do ALL shrooms sting?
  8. Eh just read online that the discoma shroom is deadly to stony corals!! EEKS!! maybe that's why my maze bleached.. coz it was near this shroom!!
  9. So need to cause any worries? Shroom should be okay right?
  10. Yup yup.. I think tupperware plastic is especially oily... You know you can silicone the damn thing like mad and when it dries you can peel the silicone off COMPLETELY without it having any visible leftovers on the plastic... that's probably why my old DIY skimmer leaked like crazy... could never seal it properly...
  11. yup that's quite easy actually... I used to use one of those on my old 1ft nano... but it broke down one day due to a leak.. shucks..
  12. maybe part of the reason... I also adjusted the water level after taking a peek at some other LFSs running similar skimmers without reducers at the neck... Seems like I had to lower the water level to BELOW the upper riser... if not there would have been mega bubbles (due to the lack of a reducer) disrupting the formation of the foam... Hope the foam stays, the last time I had foam (a lot less than now) it lasted for 2 hrs then dissapeared...
  13. That's coz I spent a lot of effort doing up my DIY skimmer... haha and I was beginning to doubt if I had constructed it wrongly or something... Nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing a DIY project take off.. haha... just look at my tank u'll know... DIY autotop up DIY kalkreactor DIY skimmer DIY stand DIY modded MH + stand next is DIY stream!!
  14. I think T5s are cooler... as for drip method I don't recommend it simply because it's not super reliable.. go out one day come back and the drip might have been clogged thus no water at all.. or it might have dumped too much water...
  15. what's a discoma shroom? It's not a skeleton.. more like tiny soft protrusions... still looks evil if you ask me... it was very near my maze brain till I moved it, wonder if that was what caused it to receed....
  16. Have a hitchhiking shroom looking object in my tank I hope you guys can help identify... Looks a little too textured to be a shroom and furthermore it has little sharp protrusions around its circumference (not very obvious from pic) which makes it look evil.. How? What's the verdict.. shroom or not shroom.. safe or not safe... Thanks..
  17. Mine eats anything... still munching on the rocks but often goes for a flake or pellet...
  18. $2 increase only? I think there are some cases of prices which are skyrocketing...
  19. Hm... what about people who have mixed reefs? Or is it the softies generally occupy the lower half of the tank
  20. Most recommended of the lot is Salifert loh... can try the new labor test kits (cheaper and almost as good) found them at ML...
  21. Nope... still no foaming... damn... will wait a few days if not then I shall think of ways to salvage my skimmate-less DIY skimmer... No... think I should wait for 2 weeks....
  22. Took out the stocking, made a PVC "silencer" of sorts for the output but still the microbubbles... And I think I know where they are coming from.. my skimmer... shucks... skimmer should be leaking microbubbles into the tank... Can't seem to stop them no matter what I try, they literally pass right through the filter foam, defy laws of bouyancy by moving downwards with the current, sneak their way past the plants in my fuge and enter the return chamber.... Sians... but on a brighter note... read in one of the AquaC online user manuals that this is typical of skimmers which have not broken in.. no foam + microbubbles in tank... hope they are right
