  1. Get those translucent ones loh... but then very difficult to segment the plastic sump because the sides are sloping...
  2. Interesting but what's the definition of this air suction power thing how is it measured and why is it in %....
  3. hm... it works? In that case should we start chilling our kalk reactors too? hehehee....
  4. do it quickly before it starts to shrink... go in quickly under the flap then snip away... but remember to snuff out the stem as well.. it might form into another shroom...
  5. Huh... so what's the point.. I don't really get it.. cold water mix with kalk for what purpose exactly?
  6. I used a 250W on my 55gal without chiller for a while.. but had a table fan blowing at the water surface... temp worse was 29.9... but I don't recommend it...
  7. I always just use the "view new posts" at the top...
  8. Me thinking of adding also... but ironically I want to pump in more yellowish or pure white light to offset my 20k BLV...
  9. Time for kalk reactor + auto-top up... it's a real lifesaver I tell you...
  10. Hm.. dump still a bit dangerous if you ask me... pH is a bit high... strangely for me my pH is low (around 8~8.1) even when I dose kalk... wonder why
  11. I believe some people used to dunk their fishes in freshwater for a couple of minutes.. Apparently this causes the ich to burst out of their cyst (spelling?) prematurely or something... But I doubt anyone dares to do this to anything other than a $1 clown.. haha... Which I did sometime back actually.. didn't kill the clown.. but neither did it get rid of the ich...
  12. Hm... maybe it wanted to upgrade itself to an electronic mouse.. hehe
  13. Could have been photoshopped to spark anti-US feelings....
  14. If you have the money to do up a beckett then better get a better valve lah... the Clementi one is quite lousy, it works but it's not that good for precision handling..
  15. It's not so simply as getting acrylic solvent and sticking two pieces together... acrylic jointing needs a degree of precision in making a clean (and straight) cut.. Otherwise the joint will be weak or even not completely waterproof due to gaps or whatever... Artfriend acrylic solvent is for craft.. not for aquariums as in it's probably not strong enough for aquariums. Depending on what you are doing I suggest you use silicone instead.. Gives you a little more leeway in joining imperfect cuts...
  16. Erm... I think your tunze is too big for your tank.. willing to take over for you for free... hehe.. just joking... nice tank!
  17. HMMmmm.... do you drip the kalk? Or you mix and pour the whole lot at once? If you don't do a drip it'll probably cause a pH flux... not sure of thats the reason for your coraline algae bleaching though...
  18. Quite hard considering they look rather small... and they are DAMN nimble loh... spook them a bit they zip away liaos
  19. Dead fish you say... Hmmm.. I used those dried prawns.. haha even worse than normal dead prawn.. maybe that's why no luck.. Okay will try the weight method after I get meself some dead fresh prawn meat...
  20. If not getting a chiller I recommend you go with T5s.. can probably still do with just a fan... PLs are even hotter than T5s I believe... But for a 35gal... I think t5s can do quite alright... But I did use my MH without chiller for quite some time... but temperature was usually around 29.. never hit above thirty so quite safe for softies.. I've added a chiller since though.. coz I wanted to try SPS out...
  21. yes that's true... can still seep through the tiny capilary cracks and so on... but if you want something really quick and strong this is it... silicone while effective in waterproofing won't hold a joint... the thing about superglue is that can seep into little cracks here and there... Oh BTW, superglue + silicone doesn't really work either... superglue doesn't adhere well to silicone... and no it won't possibly work underwater simply because you can't sprinkle baking soda underwater... maybe if taken out of the water? Might be good to hold frags but then again maybe not... and you CANNOT sprinkle the baking soda BEFORE you connect the two surfaces to bond... simply because the minute you sprinkle the baking soda it hardens making it impossible to bond.. trust me I've tried...
  22. MJ1200 might be a wee bit too poweful.... maybe the 900? Depends where you point the powerhead too...
  23. Too small?? Wah their tiny mouths can take so big food? I think mine is happily eating pods or something, it climbs all over the rockwork pecking at the rocks...
  24. slowly lah.. cannot be overnight cure.. did water change?
  25. yup.. caught one mega crab.. then after that the prawn meat dissapeared into the tank.. shucks..
