Hi guys, Well.. i was along Orchard Road tonight (Christmas Eve) and amongst the insanely packed people, someone pickpocketed away my Sony Ericsson T610 just when me and my girlfriend decided to call it a day... Had my arms around my gf to protect her from the insane sardine crowd and then I felt a little tingle in my pocket, tot it was just someone rubbing against me, the next thing I knew it was gone... shit man... And I was not the only one, went down to the police post and a lot of other people had their bags cut, opened, etc etc.... sheesh... Well at least they didn't get my wallet... as*ho*es... Merry Christmas btw... hope my fellow reefers have an enjoyable holidays free from crime... Ervine

gravity feed as in drip method is not reliable IMO... sometimes drip more, somtimes drip less... Nurce method tried before, it worked but only if the water container is rigid and completely airtight... usually larger water reservoirs are neither rigid no completely airtight

wah that's abt as big as a sally light foot...

it's stable enough.. well for me at least, been with me for almost a year already no issues whatsoever... the MH housing inside no ballast so it's pretty light... Seriously, I don't see how the MH will fall... I took it down to do some cleaning/changing of bulb recently and it took me a good 10-20mins to get the MH off from the PVC rack... btw, I'm using some steel wires to tie the casing the the PVC pipes... as for the rack itself it will sway when pushed but it won't fall apart, not after I used PVC solvent on the joints... but as with all my DIY stuff... DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!!.. Do it at ur own risk bros... diablous: MH holder from bro iwenehz? erm.. donno what u talking abt bro... got mine from viclite...
-
yeah u need to seal it properly...
-
Good idea!!! but wont stop the poor hermits
-
-
for me doesn't really work leh, most of the time either the cleaner shrimp grabs the meat or I catch my hermits... So far the best method I've had was to actually pull out the rock that the crab is hiding in, then shake/tap/poke until the crab falls out... then the fate of the crab is up to you.. i just throw them into the fuge, never to be seen again...

How do u prevent fishes from going into overflow??
ervine replied to ervine's topic in General Reefkeeping_
hehe... go into overflow still not that bad, I scared they kenna sucked down the overflow pipe!... got a snail kena before, nearly caused my tank to flood... hand a horrible time getting it out... -
do a search loh.. I made a DIY tubby even before the tubby started being produced for sale... even uploaded the schematics of it and costs etc etc... not to mention the risks involved... I got electric shocked twice because of stupidity... IMO, not worth the trouble... but if u on ultra tight budget like myself can give it a wack if you are willing to accept the risks involved... BTW, my DIY auto-top up been working for >1year liao no problems so far...

hm.. i just caught 2 crabs today, was wondering what to do with them.. didn't have the heart to kill/flush them so I let them fight it out in my fuge instead...

Does 250W MH cause sand bed to turn brown
ervine replied to hamannbmw's topic in General Reefkeeping_
probably sudden increase in light... just throw in a few snails and wait a while.. shouldn't be too big a problem -
i dare not show my plate liaos... sob sob...
-
difference also in the price.. one true perc can buy many false ones.. hehe...
-
It's not very hot leh... I can touch my 2ft T5 tube without any problems... Just add a fan loh...
-
Wah how they reach ur seio?? My sally can hardly climb up the rock work...
-
I suggest you go for at least a 150W with a proper spider reflector... maybe even 250W.... or 150W supplemented with T5s... IMO 70W at 2ft deep is too little...
-
think u just won the most oversized pic award.. hehehee... resize it bro... upz for ur sale
-
Well that depends on what you are keeping really... my 2.5x1.5x2ft tank uses 250W 20k MH and 2x24W 10k T5s and I still think it can be brighter... But since you are not considering a chiller than go for maybe 6 t5s? but problem is like my tank at 2.5ft you probably need to get the 2ft T5s rather than the 3fts... but u can check the length of the 3fts, coz my 2ft T5s are actually shorter than 2ft... erm.. think it's a bit confusing.. Yah so really depends also on what you are keeping in the tank, FOWLR don even need T5s, LPS maybe can pull off with 4 tubes, SPS prob 6 tubes... not too sure abt that... Then also need to consider what type of bulbs you want to run, 10k? 20k? etc etc..

Problem solved.. undergravel filters were too expensive, so I went to those neighbourhood stores and bought a black plastic basket with holes at the sides... sawed and cut it to size then zip tied it to the existing eggcrate... don think any fishes can get in anymore, unless the are high jump specialists!.. hehe thanks guys!
