  1. Hi guys, Got a small non-marine related project on hand requiring me to use aluminium tubes to form some sort of a frame. Basically it's a big square frame approx 2mx2m vertically standing up holding just a piece of cloth inside the square. I think aluminium can do the job but I need to get proper fittings and pieces cut to proper size (if not file until I die.. haha)... I also need for the stand to be taken apart for easy transportation... Saw some reefer bros do their MH stands with alum bars before.. so tot if someone could give some advice on where to buy em and how much they cost.. In addition, I want to paint the stand black. I can spray paint but I understand that spray paint will sooner or later chip off.. and I think anodising the alum isn't going to be cheap... got any advice? Thanks a bunch!! Ervine
  2. Hm.. tot the REAL chlorofoam is quite hard to come by in singapore.. those that you find in art fri*nd and stuff are not the full strength chlorofoam...

  4. be weary of the hardware store near the birdshops... from what I understand their prices usually quite high.. go to the one with the old ah pek near the bike shop instead...

  9. 3 week old tank quite common to get diatoms.. esp so when you added new lights... hope ur tanks already cycled
  10. I also have a planted tank.. i've not bothered to injected it with CO2 for well over 2 years... and the plants still grow like crazy... Aquatic plants (freshwater) can draw on other forms of carbon, namely dissolved organic carbons as compared to only dissolved CO2 gas... I believe macroalgae will be able to do the same as well... i do not believe that the ocean contains a lot of dissolved CO2 gas anyways... Well if you don't believe us why don't you try to inject the CO2 into your refugium and see for yourself... I too tried several types of macroalgae before, sea lettuce, calpura etc... but they never seemed to survived for long, after several tries only an unidentifiable macroalgae survived and thrived in my refugium...
  11. my macro lens max is 1:2... cannot get so close up... sad case...
  12. bro WL... do you use AF or MF for ur macro shots? Coz for me trying to judge focus thru the D70 viewfinder is not an easy thing to do coz of it's size and slightly darker nature....
  13. why bother to pump CO2 in?? From what I know dissolved CO2 gas does not remain in the water column for long, especially so for a marine tank with an overflow, skimmer etc... So in essence all your CO2 injected will be quickly released back into the atmosphere...
  14. bros what cams/lenses u all using?
  15. the pink yuma make me nose bleed...
  16. Wah bro roidan, 150W you can still take not bad already woh!.. I have 250W and its close to impossible to take even at iso1600... did u flash it? nice pics everyone!

  19. nice nice.. more pics!!! BFG: Bro... I'm using a digital SLR camera not a normal digi cam so yes I needed to get a seperate lens... If you still unsure, it's those big cameras that you can swap lenses... I put a lens that's capable of macro photography at a distance.. hope this helps...

  22. Alternatively u can have a lower K MH bulb coupled with blue T5s... for me strangely I have a 20k MH with 10k T5s.... For me, I can see marked improvements in coral growth and colours after addition of the T5s...
