Hi guys, Was wondering if bubbles & catseyes are placed next to each other will they sting each other? Coz my catseye seems to have receeded a little after i introduced it's neighbouring bubble... Also how exactly do u differentiate bubble from catseye? Coz i can hardly see the difference... Thanks! Ervine

Hi guys, I'm renting a old 2nd storey shophouse and i was thinking of how to renovate it under a tight budget. Problem is, I don't even know how to estimate how much money is needed. So i figured I better ask around before I go out and possibly get chopped by contractors. Basically i've singled out the 3 most expensive components of the renovation works and I was hoping you guys could give me a rough estimate of how much it might cost. 1. remove existing partitions and replace it with a sliding or folding partition (pref. wood based) 2. install a glass partition with glass door at the top of the stairs (to keep the a/c in) 3. tile the backyard/kitchen/toilets with stone looking ceramic tiles other smaller works probably include: cleaning and re-varnishing exisiting wooden floor demolishing and replacing existing railings fixing ceiling boards simple paint jobs fixing up water pipes if required add skirting... etc etc total floor area approx 700sqft Any ideas? can your tank be viewed from that side? if so then don't lean it... it will become impossible to clean the glass... If not then shouldn't be a problem since most of the loading is not against the glass, it's downwards onto the other rocks...

I leave my tank in the hands of my family when I'm away in hall.. recently I came back and I couldn't find my orange starfish anymore... I thought it was a gonner until today, about 1 week after I realised it went missing, that I found it in the sump.. and alive too!! Shucks man... did this ever happen to anyone else before?

Huh change to LR? no man... actually there should be nothing in the sump that can possibly trap deitrus over a long period of time... For me it's down pipe straight to sump where the first line of defence is the skimmer, then I use a small piece of filter wool which I change frequently just to trap anything that got pass the skimmer, then it's refugium and back to the tank liao... But there are different schools of thought about this.. some people pack their sump with bioballs and filter wool, some have nothing... so it's really up to you I guess... I used to have coral chips and bioballs too.. then I swapped over to having nothing at all except the skimmer and fuge...

HMmmm... i donno man.. usually i would just leave it and wait it out.. since the corals and all still look okay... changing the water might introduce even more shock.... my suggestion is if you notice any adverse effects then change the water immediately.. if not then just wait and see... In any case, i think it's better not to have the bioballs even... nothing that will become a nitrate factory after a while...

why not have one on a digital timer as well? or even have a 3rd seio or maxijet on a digital timer? I have a sawn off maxijet set on timer... works great....

oh u replaced coral chips with bioballs ah? Hm... you might have distupted the filtration system a little by doing that.. making it go thru a mini "new-tank" syndrome... Are your corals and fishes doing okay? ur water parameters look okay to me

u can't just use a spray injector on any skimmer u know... it doesn't work the same as a needle wheel nor a venturi... If you are thinking of modding an existing skimmer then I really don't think the spray injector will work... maybe a needle wheel... if u really want a spray injector u probably gotta DIY one yourself, look on the net there are plenty of plans on it
