-
how abt a yellow tang? aren't they smaller?
-
Ooo.. good idea.. will consider..
-
a little reluctant to get an FR up... my sump area already packed like crazy and I ran out of power sockets hehe... but i will consider it again... As for RO/DI water.. don have money to get a proper RO/DI unit.. sigh.. My current turbo snails and hermits won't even touch the thing, neither will my algae blenny... only thing that works so far is my toothbrush... As for skimmer, already set to wet-ish skim... Someone suggested a tang but can a tang fit in my 2.5ft?
-
was considering this too when I was doing my DIY KR, in the end decided to go with a circulatory pump instead...

Hi guys, Just came back from China after an absence of 3 weeks from my tank... my family helped me look after it but after I came back I found this type of algae clumping all over the tank.. sigh I've battled it before, scrubbed it off the rock then super glued the infected area, it stayed away for quite some time until now when it suddenly came back with a vengence.. Any one knows what is it and how best to deal with it? Tank is 2.5ftx1.5ftx2ft 250W 20k BLV with 2 x 36W T5s Macro AS250 skimmer DIY KR Sump with macro algae Water Paras so far: pH - 8.3 No3 - 2.5ppm kH - 8 Ca - 400ppm don have PO4 test kit but I running aquaz purephos (w/o FR) Help help! Thanks! Ervine

any chance of selling the 10k bulb alone? -
Hm.. won't really strong magenets screw up your propeller? Pretty neat DIY bro.. love the use an existing fan idea... Also if you using a magenetic stirrer, make sure ur stirrer bar is as smooth as possible if not it'll start grinding your PVC down... or get some teflon and glue it to the bottom of your reactor..

have u ever held it in your hands? I have big hands so the camera feels really puny when I hold it...

talk about suay... I'm now stuck at changi airport coz my stupid plane had some mechanical problems at the last minute... so now been stuck here since midnight, going into the 3hrs of delay liao... donno what's wrong with the plane also... feel a little insecure even if they say they managed to fix the problem... SIGH...

they call eggcrates lighting diffusers... they are used on flourecent light fixtures to diffuse light... if they still don't understand tell them it's those white plastic with small squares... And of course you can use PVC only.. just that it might not be as efficient in making "tables"

I run mine on a timer, 15mins every 1hr... from what I understand it's because you don't want to stir up the undissolved kalk but rather just stir enough to replace the solution which leaves the kalk reactor...
-
I presume your ehiem pump is run externally? in that case u gotta get one that also can run externally... For my DIY kalkreactor I run it using a maxijet 1200... it's enough to get the work done...
-
did u prime the pump first? i.e. make sure there's water inside the pump before turning it on.. the pump cannot prime itself one... another way is to dunk the whole thing into a pail of water and test to see if it still works... if not then send it for repair liaos i guess..

really colourful man... great collection!! which seio is that btw?
-
let me know what the skimmer model is...

try turning on then off the pump again... it should help expel whatever air is left trapped inside... If it is still disturbingly noisy, maybe the shaft is loose, out of place or broken... take the pump apart to check.. but I think this is not very likely...
