  1. 3rd pic looks like slate... but not sure where u can get it though...
  2. u should go ask at clubsnap leh... in any case I tot photohut is a chain? if I am not wrong (which I very well might be) there's one at Sunset Way... So cheem ah do cross process?
  3. woah.. closest I can think of is serangoon MRT then take a bus, i think it's 70 or 76 and 147 to bring u to serangoon north (must alight at the right stop)...
  4. skimmer bro... the pt is to remove the "trash" before it starts to foul up your tank... the macro algae will only remove all the already broken down trash... So to play safe, just have both...
  5. i've thought about this before.. and I don't see why it's not possible, for eg. a simple weipro u can detatch the venturi portion and replace with a mazzei injector... it SHOULD work but donno if it'll be a lot better than the original weipro or not...
  6. erm... ok... in any case i stopped using the DIY maxijet needlewheel liao.. the skimmer that i built using it didn't really work very well.. so the maxijet now used to stir kalk.. haha...
  7. yeaps.. any pump can be a needlewheel pump... I DIYed my maxijet 1200 to be a needlewheel before...
  8. i would say it's not possible to hang it... even my AS250 sits on a little box outside the sump.. don't dare to hang it.. u try to carry it already quite heavy (with water) let alone hang it on ur glass...
  9. But won't distilled water cost more in the long run?
  10. don think u can buy off the shelf.. but confirm have.. those ehiem ones loh but the impeller is a needlewheel...
  11. bro... wrong lah... There are venturi skimmers, like weipro which the venturi is AFTER the pump... if the venturi is before the pump then the skimmer is a needle wheel one... Between normal venturi skimmers and mazzei injector venturi skimmers, mazzeis should be more efficient coz of the design of the injector itself...
  12. i don't see why not.. only thing is u need to find the needlewheel pump loh... should be okay only worry is the output cannot take the input from the new pump... but should be ok one i think...
  13. if you are buying JUST the mazzei injector then yes.. it's only the venturi component, u need the pump AND the skimmer body.. and yes.. it's basically an expensive (but more efficient!) venturi...
  14. saw this on someone's avatar or signature before.. i thought it was his daughters...
  15. eh... where u see this venture lighting?
  16. the mazzei injector also uses the venturi effect but is constructed such that it's more efficient or something like that... basic venturis are rather straight forward, constrict the path of water, add an air inlet and u'll get bubbles...
  17. asked today.. the tap water filter thing is 85 bucks.. they say they don't have kent marine one.. shrug...
  18. yups reduced liao... as for snails... the current snails won't touch it so put more snails also no pt... ok will keep working on improving the water quality as well as I can.. Thanks guys, wish me luck!
  19. agreed.. don think u can run it externally..
  20. skimmer already upgraded liao.. of course budget upgrade lah.. but should be good enough for my tank leh... macro 250 needlewheel (If i remember correctly).. been running for abt a month now... turnover ah.. Hmmm... that one unless i upgrade my return pump woh... KIV first... Also upgraded the in-tank circulation today by adding another powerhead (on timer to get some kinda surges) directed behind the rocks to remove what I think are deadspots in my tank..
  21. if you do things right.. u can even do w/o the ammonia.. and even without the nitrite if u ask me...
  22. okie.. so the main thing now is to control nutrients and where possible don't use tap water.. okie will try my best
