ah shucks that's just sad... hopefully she's led a full life so leave with no regrets...

how about this? Only problem is that the skimmer I intend to get can barely squeeze into the sump area (due to height).. Need to get my hands on it before deciding if it will fit or not...

total size is 18"(W) by 21"(L) by 16"(H)... Hm.... i wanted to have the pump outside so that it would cut down on heat issues.. but u got a point there... Hm.. can consider, just need to add an inch... Also got a point of using 1 pump instead of 2 but the thing is that I don't want to buy another pump (budget concerns)... My cabinet can be accessed from the right as well.. so no problem with having the fuge in the centre... Hm... I think I MIGHT be able to squeeze in my skimmer inside as well, saves me space in the extended cabinet...

Hi guys, Couldn't sleep so I started to draw up plans for my new sump. Please have a look at it and tell me if there are any problems. The tank is viewed from 2 sides, bottom and right (as seen from the top view), at the side is a proposed cabinet which will house all the misc stuff... The sump is sized according to my current stand as seen, the excess height is meant to buffer the surge when the power gets cut... The overflow chamber is placed at the opposite corner because I wanted the skimmer pump to be closer to the skimmer (external)... however, I need to know how big the return bulkhead hole should be and how to go about sealing it up or whatever... I'm also unsure as to the distance between the baffles (currently 1" spacing centre to centre), i'm doing a over, under, over method as the other side is fuge so might not be able to do under over under... How? Does it look ok?

wait ah let me get this clear... so the incission method u snip the shroom radially towards the centre but stop short of snipping the mouth itself yeah? Do 1 cut or several cuts? Also... for zoos can propogate via cutting meh???? The most i heard of is to remove some from their existing LR, then let them settle down on some new coral chips, then transplant...

How to ward off wave after wave of bad luck??

yeah man.. money don't go out money don't come in right? haha... Speaking of retail therapy (reefer style).. I planning to upgrade my tank parts real soon... i think for 2 years I din touch anything already and now some things really look like they could do with some fixing... So far things on the to do list include: 1. Get electrician in to clean up wires (DONE!!! Managed to remove 2 extension cords and an amazing EIGHT yes.. EIGHT multi-plugs) 2. Get new chiller to replace dead one (DONE!!!) 3. Get new sump (current one too small and poorly designed) 4. Get new skimmer (2nd hand beckette maybe... hm) 3. Design new cabinet (in the pipeline along with renovating my room) So looks like my feng shui is going to change afterall huh.. Hmm.... -
Ahhh... nevermind I managed to figure it out... for some reason the hole at the top of my durso standpipe became constricted (probably by dust?) resulting in the inconsistent flow down the pipe...

hm.. i actually have hardly met any (except 1 or 2) reefers in person... maybe coz everytime go LFS I no money (nor space) to buy anything so rather just not go if not itchy fingers again... But what I like most is just looking at the critters in the tank doing their stuff... it's almost as if every fish, crab, invert has it's own little character...
-
better to put coral chips than sand i think... coz if it attaches to a chip it'll be easier for u to epoxy or glue it to a piece of LR as opposed to sand... Hm... this thread makes me wanna chop up some of my excess shrooms just for fun too...

How to ward off wave after wave of bad luck??

yah loh.. later they break into my home and steal my red g-string underwear which I plan to use to wear on my head before going to tua peh kong temple in loyang to find bless a flower which I will use in my shower that night... in any case, i'm feeling better already.. just bot my new chiller and a few new corals.. retail therapy reefer style.. hahaa... btw I can't believe how I used to live with my old chiller man!! The new one is so much quieter!! -
Hi guys, I think I have encountered this problem before but it somehow went away or I managed to fix it... just can't remember how.. So here's the deal.. the water in my last compartment of the sump is rising and falling resulting in my auto-top up turning off and on every 20 secs or so... I have not changed anything in the plumbing other than turn on the chiller pump after I got my replacement. Did not change the pump, so everything is the same as before... I know it's a possible sign that the overflow pipe cannot take the flow but the thing is I didn't change the plumbing nor the flow rates of the pumps... So what gives? Thanks! Ervine

yeah that usually happens when u do that what.. chiller or not.. in the case of the chiller maybe even worse coz it draws more power so sparking will be more than normal... fuse blown just replace.. should have saved your chiller...

bro if u letting go ur chiller only let me know yah?

so if I combine all the advice given to me.. I need to wear red underwear to tua peh kong temple in loyang, along the way I pluck a flower to be blessed when I'm at the temple... then back home at midnight I need to rinse the flower in warm water and then take a shower with the water? After which do a bank transfer to muah_chee... sounds good! -
what's wrong with it? maybe I can salvage parts...
