  1. i think he split them into 2 sets of 8... i.e. 8 sockets to one CB and the other 8 to another... not sure if that's the best way but that's what the electrician recommended...
  2. shucks.. looks like I should have gone with the pac cool after all.. DOH!! how?? $35 for the most efficient paperweight you will ever find!
  3. the only one i could afford was another resun. but this newer generation one is better than my old one. the old one seriously was as noisy as an aeroplane when it fired up. can hear from living room!! i wanted a second hand pac cool but beyond budget and oversized in physical and hp terms... so no choice...
  4. haha or if you want can wrap it up as christmas present??
  5. prob recovering from shock...
  6. yeaps... i now have 16... yes.. SIXTEEN wall sockets... 8 for my computer, 8 for my fish tank... price wise donno yet, coz electrician not done fixing everything else in the house...
  7. i just re-did my wiring.. got an electrician to come in and brought in a seperate line just for the fish tank and another just for the computer... the ELCB unlike reefers here was placed next to my exisiting MCB box outside so not so unsightly... actually he even made two switches one for fishtank, one for computer just in case... In the end I managed to remove 2 extension cords and an amazing 8 multiplugs!! It was quite a serious firehazard if you ask me...
  8. no leh... one of my bubbles mysteriously melted away in a few days... just suddenly melted... hammer, frogspawn and even another bubble right next to it all no signs of anything.... shrug... Some more that bubble I had for many years already...
  9. yups i also use teflon tape at times... works well...
  10. bro.. maybe u should try to state what you need first and what is your budget?
  11. cheapest place for tanks & sumps will generally be from kelantan lane loh... cheapest place for cabinets will be to DIY...
  12. started with freshwater after seeing some tanks at sam yick... then got hooked onto freshwater, but after a while not enough challenge so moved onto saltwater... been at them both for many years now...
  13. oh yeah I did break off the dead heads for mine... literally used my hands and broke it off... NOT RECOMMENDED!!! Please do it properly with chisel or some other tools...
  14. kenna again today... but it's also my fault for being so nice and gullible... shan't talk about it.. but let's just say it was retail therapy (reefer style) gone wrong...
  15. i think i heard some people can heat it over a stove but seriously speaking unless you put very little solvent u are not going to be able to pull them apart... cutting is the way to go...
  16. huh u mean the boss? I believe he's using MHs right? For me I use both MH and T5s.. the T5s just to supplement some colour coz my MH is 20k... I use MH coz I like that shimmering effect it gives.. very nice and seriously MH has some SERIOUS penetrating power man... it will also take up less real estate above your tank as opposed to multiple t5s.. But MH = more money down the drain loh coz not only will it suck more power, your chiller will have to work harder also... but if you are asking if it's possible to keep SPS with T5s yeah sure you can but don't be expecting them to penetrate a 2ft deep tank lah...
  17. my hammer started with 4 heads, 3 died, broke those off left 1.. now split to 2 heads with a 3rd on the way... but that took like 3years?
  18. my sump was diy one... got an old tank then added partitions
