  1. 30?? Woah... mighty big sump u have there... upz for u...
  2. the foam is really something!! it looks like a thick froth like the top of a jug of beer... maybe u need to give it a while for it to reach its "full potential"... BTW.. i realised ur weipros were also pulling out redish looking gunk...
  3. actually i only had problems with hair algae... could never get rid of it till I got myself a seahare which literally ate all of the algae... now that the seahare has passed (see the seahare thread on how I accidentally killed my seahares) for some reason the hair algae never came back... and in the instances where it LOOKED like it was coming back I took out the rock, gave it a good scrubbing, dunked the affected area in freshwater and put back the rock... other methods I've tried include running an FR with phosphate absorbing media which I did for a while but in the end stopped doing... and of course like I said, do it the biological way, refugium... the macro algae in my refugium doubles in volume every 1-2weeks.. which all goes to show how much nutrients they are pulling out of the water...
  4. is this a local based company? can't seem to find info on it's location...
  5. So that means u guys literally drain the water in the bag away and replace it with tank water bit by bit? I also stopped bothering to chase the 0 nitrate number.. esp so since I turned completely LPS... only have some issues with algae but that can be resolved via other means... also, I run a refugium with thriving macro algae, i think that helps biologically regulate nitrates in the tank.. I would highly recommend it...
  6. acrylic tank?? if not razor blade not easy to scratch glass leh
  7. i using chengai... it was really really really hard to work with it... very tough to machine, my jigsaw had problems going thru it let alone my chisel... but the end product rock solid...
  8. i had 2 seahares... I only realised after the 2nd one died what had caused their deaths... I had originally thought the first one died from starvation.. but the 2nd one I even hand fed it.. but still died... Like some reefers mentioned, they are very sensitive to water changes... and silly me went to dose too much alkalinity buffer at one go... (which I usually do without any casualties)... which ultimately resulted in their death... well at least that's what I believed happened, because on both occassions both of them died the day after I dosed the buffer... my bad..
  9. internal but ur tank set up yet? if not yet then can try the tootpaste method loh... should be safe
  10. wah so cheem? some more got electrical current in the water kinda thing going on?? So really no one knows what exactly this is? in terms of technology?
  11. still need to protect... stainless steel will still rust over time... but I think he knows what he's doing lah... two thumbs up for u bro!
  12. just take some autosol, put on a rag and go at it.... rub rub rub rub rub... give it a wack... (erm.. external right? not sure how autosol will be for ur tank water if it's internal)
  13. depends how bad the scratches are.. minor ones can be buffed off with just toothpaste, not so minor ones but still minor can be dealt with autosol... larger ones will be tough to get rid of and dangerous too.. coz u basically wearing down the glass to get rid of the scratch...
  14. i still don't get the technology behind the skimmer.. what makes it so special?
  15. nice fabrication! Just make sure u coat that steel with many many layers of marine grade epoxy paint.. it'll rust in no time near ur salt water tank.. Wow I think you are the first I seen to DIY a stand with metal.. most of us just use wood coz it's easier to machine...
  16. wow really?? Okie will try that later tonight before I sleep... my back hurts just about every single night (or every time I lie down).. shoot man like an old man already... crap
  17. yah man I bot a hundred dollar adjustable chair I already heart pain... so it's either heart pain, back pain or wrist pain...
  18. wah got erm.. special or not? just kidding... my problem like I said is posture.. but i adjust my posture then my arms get into awkward position to use the mouse (which I use a lot, which results in wrist pain)... so adjust one, back pain, adjust the other wrist pain... wah xiong... unless can get a table that's fully adjustable...
  19. $30 bucks!! Will throw in instruction manual on how to use it as paperweight!
  20. my back pain is from posture... slouch too much for my own good... but the pain only comes when I lie down.. always the same place, always the same pain... see sin seh before he just tell me to sit properly that's all...
  21. sorry bro... i'm no technician so I told him what i needed and left him to decide...
  22. for me what I did last time was to scrape old coraline algae from the glass of my old tank... seemed to work well..
  23. sim lim tower?? thinking of getting one to better vent my chiller exhaust...
