  1. mine 5-6" approx... should be no problem, there has been word that some have kept a DSB for >5yrs without any problems... so no worries
  2. Hi guys, Been thinking about making a new skimmer, but wanted to ask a few opinions first. Okay basically I need to make an external skimmer, there's no space in my sump for an inline one.. I'm also looking at DIY-ing a needle wheel. So here's the thing, can my needle wheel pump supply the required amount of water to the skimmer with the below set up? Coz I remember reading that it might not be able to build up enough pressure to push the mixture of air and water over the sump, into the skimmer and back out... Hopefully the diagram will explain a little, so instead of a recirculating needle wheel pump, I just have one pump that supplies both the water and the bubbles to the skimmer. Will this work? Thanks!
  3. Same purpose... but generally the needle wheel ones have a better reputation...
  4. Yah it's quite ex... mine also used to be under 20 bucks... hm...
  5. Hm... i think you can probably DIY that with those 5gal water dispenser jar... hehe...
  6. mine is next to my hifi, near my computer.. so far nothing.... *cross fingers*... depends on how big a tank also...
  7. clean which part of the skimmer? the internal body?
  8. what about those that dissapear? MIA is the worse.. donno what happened to them..
  9. Well can push it to 300 dpi but then anything higher will make very little difference and is then highly dependent on the original image quality... And like I said, the bigger the picture, the less likely it's meant to be viewed up close... but I understand lah.. always nice to push the limits.. heh...
  10. Actually you don't need to save it as an EPS file... we (architecture students) send A1-A0 sized posters for printing all the time and a JPEG saved at a reasonable high quality will surfice... as for DPI 150 is okay, 200 is better 300 is too much... Coz at A0, nobody is going to come <20cm from your panel, thus the small imperfections are negligible.. more so if you have large text... Yup... but all the best for your submission..
  11. Hehe nice artwork... I've done some of the same size before... wonder if they can fetch the same price.. Hm....
  12. Of legal age but I've never been to Bangkok... Or is this something that occurs elsewhere as well?
  13. Yup it's a real monster I tell ya... I believe that's 80 bucks and in sump only... so that's a real problem...
  14. I don't entirely agree... it depends on whether or not you want to DIY or buy off the shelf, my DIY 250W MH cost me about 200 bucks... cheaper than DIY T5s with the same wattage I think... Not to mention MH has the water shimmering effect.. but that's just personal preference... Oh and I'm not running a chiller either...
  15. actually it's not REALLY close.. most of them need a 10min walk?
  16. that's why I made sure my extension cords are as far away as possible from the water... or elevated in some way..
  17. wah the girl/guy in the 1st and last pic damn chio... lovely eyelashes, looks a bit like mix blood some more.. rosy cheeks... smooth skin.. wah wah... Sadly once they begin to speak.... errr... then not so chio anymore...
  18. 1 bi-colour... managed to salvage 1/4 of it left (the rest reduced to a skeleton) only to have the remainder swept into an anenome which engulfed the corpse.. My hairs still stand when I think of it....
  19. Hehe.. I had the same problem for the longest time... finally found a simple solution... Use some clear plastic bags, lay over the foam part, then clip it down here and there... cuts salt spray by 90%!!! Now I don't even bother with the foam...
