Yes the latest phosban and FR uses light. But why you want to spend money on filter wool, denitrator,FR for phos and carbon and lastly a skimmer when a led algae scrubber can do all the above job?

No teaser. I am looking into another DIY to help us save on space and electrical energy in our sump area or even outside the sump in our clamp cabinet.

Beside the main tank aquarium lite are there other areas in our home where electrical bill can be save? Even in our aquarium beside our main tank lite our sump is also consuming a lot of electrical energy. Or denitrator, our phosphate reactor and our sump lite all are consuming electrical energy to help our tank reduce NO3 and PO4. Can we reduce NO3 and PO4 and light up the sump with less energy?
  5. Your PO4 is high .It should be zero.Use product like Rowaphos or any other

Comments From the Owner Sherman, My octopus(frogspwan) did not melt under the LED:). Instead it has shown good expansion similar to exposure to sunlight from the windows in addition to the PC lights. Definitely very promising. My chiller kick frequency has been greatly reduced too. T

Very sori as I do not have enough data to provide this piece of info. And I believe how many time your chiller kick in depend on all the heat generate in your tank system. Heat is generate from light, wavemaker, return pumps and other pumps that is in your tank system. Reducing heat generate from light is only reducing one of the many heat generators in your tank. It will either reduce the number of kick in by your chiller or the duration before the chiller kick in. But by how much it depend your heat generate from light dominate how many percent of your total heat generate So its very hard to give a clear definite answer on this question
