  1. If the anemone is still closed after many days you might want to check your water parameters.
  2. Talking out ich, there are many strains of it. There is even one strain that is both resistant to hyposalinity and copper treatment, only responding to chloroquin. If you get hit by that strain...
  3. An article 3 years back, but not many people might have been aware of it. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-09/eb/index.php
  4. Liveaquaria's method. You can't go wrong following it. http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=425
  5. If that's the case, add the rare & un-QT-able fishes first. Quarantine the future introductions.
  6. Most hardcore American reefers would disagree with you. But then again different mindset. I mean if you are willing to take the risk of losing all your established fish just by the introduction of that single rare fish, then by all means. If that happens, you will wonder why you did QT for the previous fishes in the first place anyway. All your previous effort of QT would have gone down the drain.
  7. Once you decide to QT, QT all the way. Don't think that a certain fish is tough/delicate and should skip the QT. QT is not so much about saving the fish that you have just bought. It is more about saving the lives of your other established fish from any pathogen introduction. I would rather kill the fish in QT than to put it in a display tank to risk the lives of so many other fishes.
  8. Japanese MT-250 spotlight. http://glassbox-design.com/2009/mt-250-metal-halide-spotlight-japan-mzone/ http://glassbox-design.com/2009/mzone-mt250-metal-halide/
  9. PMed you my friend's contact. He has an 8ft so he should be able to advise you.
  10. UV & ozone will break down organics. You do not need to run carbon if you are running either of them.
  11. Ah I spot a potential supply of algae.. Save for me!
  12. Drop-in coils are definitely more efficient and cheaper to run than the normal chiller. For budget pumps that are energy efficient, check out Sequence pumps.
  13. If it's dying it will not be on the rock.

  15. Don't understand why you guys like epoxies that dissolve in water.
  16. Ahem..warning no. ? Forgot already. I give up.
  17. "Various public and private aquaria have used algae scrubber filters on their reef aquaria, with disastrous results. The microcosm at the Smithsonain Institution has yet to keep scleractinia alive for more than a year. While Dr. Adey has stated how well corals grow in this system, those viewing the system have failed to find these corals. In an interview with Jill Johnson, one of the techs responsible for the Smithsonian tank, she stated to Frank M. Greco that frequent collecting trips were needed to keep the system stocked with live scleractinia." From http://www.seasky.org/aquarium/aquarium_faq_page02.html#2.9
  18. D-D peristaltic pump is 1ml/min.
  19. A famous answer would be "fish knock against each other and thus they get pop eye". But no, this is a bacterial infection. You need anti-bacterial medications if the condition does not improve.
  20. This product only works when it is being biodegraded. I've been running mine even before this product was being sold here and by now the pellets seem to be 50-60% of their mass already.
  21. They have been positively I.Ded as West African Lysmata grabhami.
  22. Damage? Not much as it was not IDed as something rare. In reality there is no fixed market price for this shrimp due to its rarity in the trade. Do a google search and you'll be surprised how little information there is. Not to mention false information which misidentifies the common Indo-pacific cleaner as the Atlantic one.
  23. If that happens it just means ich has been in your tank to begin with. Just that previous fishes have certain immunity and they don't get infected so much that it becomes so visible. It is possible to have a tank without ich but you will have to quarantine every single thing before putting it into your tank, including rocks, corals, sand, etc.
  24. Nets are bad things to transfer fish with. Avoid if possible.
